We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"You can build websites on it very quickly.""We use a part of the solution called Acquia. The personalization portion of this is the most valuable aspect fo the solution.""The feature I find most valuable is that Drupal is a framework and not only a CMS.""It is good for big projects."

"The portal is at its best version now.""You can create channels between teams internally and externally, which is great. There is a lot of security with Slack internal, which is what I value.""Overall, it is a good idea as it works better than most solutions out there.""The most valuable feature for me was the different channels.""The solution's initial setup process is easy.""Its integration with different apps is a great feature.""It has definitively made an improvement on our productivity. Information does not got lost in hundreds of less important messages.""When we work with a platform like Slack, we can have one source without merging different document versions."

Cons
"The user experience in designing layouts should be much easier or much more helpful.""Digital experience features like target, segmentation, and campaign management have a long way to go.""It is a little bit simplified.""I think the support needs to improve, as well as the integration with tracking and analytics systems."

More Drupal Cons →

"The solution needs to improve its scalability.""The product should provide integration with other solutions like Gmail or Outlook.""The UI could be a little bit better.""The way groups are created on slack could be improved. Once you create a group of people, you can't add additional people unless you convert it to a channel.""The integration with SharePoint doesn’t work properly.""Slack's interface is not simple for me. It's not a user-friendly interface""Sometimes there are login issues.""Sometimes, the servers are not available."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I would like to see better pricing."
  • More Drupal Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "We use the free version that does not have a license."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "It is less expensive than one of its competitors."
  • "It is an expensive tool. We pay 15 to 20 USD monthly per user."
  • "Slack is definitely worth the money."
  • "The pricing can range up to about twenty bucks a user. You can spend a lot of money, especially if you're talking about thousands of users. Generally speaking, Slack is less expensive than Teams. Slack doesn't include all the bells and whistles that Teams does. So you can go from a $6 license in Microsoft 365 to a $50 license per user per month, and there's a lot more you can do in the $50 license."
  • "I would rate the tool's pricing a four out of ten."
  • "The solution is cheap in my country."

At Mediacurrent we often get requests to compare Drupal to other platforms used for intranet sites and social business platforms (like https://dev.twitter.com/ for example). This is often referred to as “Social Business Software”, which has grown in popularity in recent years. I decided to do a round-up of a couple of the more well known platforms and compare their products to Drupal. In this roundup we will be comparing Jive, Sharepoint and Drupal Commons. Drupal Commons is a popular distribution created by Acquia to compete with some of these other proprietary platforms. There are many other options out there, commercial and otherwise, to compare with Drupal but I want to focus on Jive and Sharepoint for a couple of reasons. I chose Jive because it is one of the leading competitors in this space in respect to market share. Next, I chose Sharepoint because I have some history with Sharepoint. This experience dates back to when I built www.adhe.edu with Sharepoint 2007 a few years ago. I subsequently wrote this blog entry about my experience shortly after joining Mediacurrent. This roundup will also act as a refresher for those who read my original “Drupal vs. Sharepoint” blog. Yammer, which was recently bought by Microsoft and is the tool we currently use for office communication will also get some mentions throughout this article. As I went through and tested each of these tools I used three main criteria in my evaluation Cost Ability to Customize Overall features… Read more →
