Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The feature that offers the greatest benefits in ensuring data integrity is its backup capability.""Deduplication is the most valuable feature of this solution.""The best feature is the DR replication for us.""NetWorker has very good scalability.""The extensive information provided on tool properties has been very useful, specifically the information on databases""The solution is scalable.""NetWorker's most valuable feature is recovery, including the policy-based backups that can be configured.""The solution is very user-friendly. After setting up five machines for our customers we teach them how to set up the agent and start doing their backups. It is very easy for them once they see how to do it, they like to do it on their own."

"We get control over authentication policies and create an agentless backup by generating a token for that.""If you are looking for a backup solution, go with Druva because it's quite simple.""It is simple to implement and use. It's very flexible.""The tool has good features. The backup is also accurate.""It has a straightforward installation.""You don't need a certified administrator to manage this product.""It's incredibly fast.""The recovery aspect of the solution is its most valuable feature."

Cons
"The solution could improve by having more integration.""It is not easy to understand and deploy. It is complex in nature. Simplicity is not there. When we deploy it, the customer always needs some training from us. To make it user friendly, there should be one agent that can be used to back up every product. Dell EMC NetWorker uses so many user agents. In PowerProtect Data Manager, you can just install its VM, import that VM into vCenter, and you can start to do backups directly from vCenter. However, in Dell EMC NetWorker, you always need one server, and from that server, you need to initiate all backups. You must know the interface and the CLI. It is not user friendly. It would be a great feature if we can deploy Dell EMC NetWorker on a virtual machine, like Avamar. The additional features that are required in Dell EMC NetWorker are already available in PowerProtect Data Manager and Avamar. Therefore, there is no need to enhance Dell EMC NetWorker. It would be better if they can just rename it to PowerProtect Data Manager or Avamar.""Reporting templates could be easier to understand and more comprehensive.""The end-user experience is not good.""Lacks a restore feature.""The initial setup is complex.""The web console could be a lot better.""While upgrading to a new version, we encounter challenges related to specific algorithms or code regulations."

More Dell NetWorker Cons →

"The support of other cloud services needs to be improved. It has very good cloud support for AWS but not with others.""The one area that needs to improve is the pricing.""It would be good if bare metal backups were possible.""If I could have an accelerator or something to back up the solution on the cloud, that would be helpful. Also, it would be helpful if the accelerator could give me a buffer of a couple of days for any kind of immediate recovery on an offsite.""This solution would benefit from the inclusion of an on-premise backup feature, as currently, they are offering everything in the cloud.""The user quota is an area that needs to be improved.""Druva inSync is very high in price. A general customer cannot afford this solution. Even if the product is good, people cannot afford such a high cost just for taking the backup. This is a recurring investment, and the customers have to pay for it every year. Druva is also yet to develop the channel and the channel or partner commitment.""The product needs to improve its support."

  • "The pricing of this solution is very good."
  • "If you purchase Avamar, NetWorker is free with Avamar, for one terabyte license capacity."
  • "It is excellent from the pricing point of view. It is free with Data Protection Suite. Similarly, when you purchase Avamar, Dell EMC NetWorker is free with one terabyte license capacity. Its price is very competitive."
