We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
Offers a single pane of glass to view inventory, code version management, and inner operations. The most valuable feature is the auto-discovery, which is nice because you don't have to do anything to add a new component. We were able to standardize the internal processes across all internal departments, resulting in almost an elimination of non-standard process flows through our organization.I have found the cross analysis feature to be the most valuable. The Spectrum tool improved our network assurance levels for our business units. All networks (or network equipment) are monitored through CA Spectrum.

Fortinet has the option of synchronization in the cloud, so you can manage everything if you have a cloud account. We look at the traffic to segment the network and it improves and increases the performance. When we have a mobile connection and local laptops are on the same network. We have seen a big performance upgrade.A fully integrated solution. The most valuable features are the centralized management of the firewalls. The user interface is very easy to navigate. It would normally take us a handful of days to install one FortiGate instance on one site. But with this technology, zero-touch deployment, we need just one hour or maybe as little as 30 minutes to install one site. It is much more efficient. The solution is very stable. The product is a combination of management and monitoring from the same interface.

Cons
The company is trying desperately to sustain the platform by bolting on changes to it to enhance it. It is not a long-term solution. The interface is not nice and needs to be improved. We want to make our own choice for the AIOps solution and do not want to be forced to use the Broadcom OI solution by default. For us, the implementation was quite complex but it's because of the large number of different environments we're dealing with. The CA Technologies sales team destroyed their relationship with our business units. It needs better integration with other CA products.OS monitoring needs to be better developed, as well as their services, e.g., cluster monitoring, URLs, etc.

The response times from technical support need to be a bit quicker.Performance issues should be improved. We have problems when we have more mobile connections than local devices. Most of us have two to three devices. Can be difficult to configure. It's a difficult process to transfer one interface from one virtual domain to another.Regional support in African countries needs to be improved.Troubleshooting for Fortinet products is more difficult than competing products like Cisco and Palo Alto. The GUI could be updated. It's not as good as it could be and is something the solution should improve in an upcoming release. The areas that need improvement are implemenation and support. In terms of implementation, it mainly needs clear documentation.

Pricing and Cost Advice
The product, support, and maintenance are all expensive, which is another reason that we are switching to another solution. In general, the license cost will be about 30% of the total TCO for this tool (hardware/support team, OS costs, and OS management).
