Quotes From Members Comparing Dynatrace vs. SiteScope

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
We are able to get insights into our systems, which previously took us weeks to be able to detect.Through end-user monitoring, we were able to measure the user's perceived performance and build an SLA based on that information.I would give Dynatrace's technical support a 100% rating. I feel like whenever I call or send an email that I get the right person automatically. For the most difficult answers, the most I have to wait is about three days and the answers have been relevant. The benefits we receive using this tool increase productivity, which increase revenue. It helps our organization identify potential problems by doing thorough analysis of systems which integrate with one another. We are not blind anymore with our digital services performance; no more fire fighting.Dynatrace AppMon has allowed a deep dive review of performance problems in near real-time for our primary external website and related web apps and web services.PurePath view of methods and the call stack are extremely valuable for troubleshooting and performance review.

SiteScope has built-in flat file DB, hence it removes the dependency of an external DB for higher stability.Has a simple setup. It can be up and running within hours. It can monitor over a 100 technologies with built-in solution templates. The Monitor Templates functionality allowed us to spin up monitoring with .csv files pretty easily.Simplest tool for monitoring servers, web content, databases and other hardware. Its dashboard is really good.Simple deployment: The deployment uses protocols such as NetBios, SSH, WMI, SNMP, which means that any device with any of these protocols will be monitored.

Cons
There is still a certain amount of technical skills needed to be able to understand what you are seeing on it. You also need a large amount of technical or infrastructure skills to understand how and where to install it. This solution needs more powerful database monitoring capabilities. It could improve its GUI interface. The GUI design is too crowded and the icons are small. Sometimes I end up clicking on the wrong button.Product reporting still needs improvement.Session export for offline analysis, like it was in AppMon, would be also nice. Our primary wish list for RFEs or feature requests are additional integration options with ticketing systems. Although, we are able to work around it, 'ticketing' is not a core function of the product. It needs education and training to ensure you get the full value of your purchase. Maybe add in a certification for Dynatrace. It needs .NET core support to the level of Java.

Direct integration with an SMS gateway for sending critical alerts to the support SME. This will help customer investing in third party middleware solutions for SMS.They have not kept up with browser security requirements or advances in GUIs, they switched to a corruptible database architecture instead of text config files. They should provide more templates for new vendor devices. It could be more reliable using a database repository instead of a log repository.

Pricing and Cost Advice
I feel the price is good for what the product does.Look at the product and the product features, not the price. Too often people look at the price and turn away. Dynatrace costs a little bit more than the other products I researched, but it can do far more.Time to value was surprisingly fast.Pricing is still too expensive. They could improve their price ranges, as there is no option for startups or testing. It is quite expensive for startups. The setup costs for Dynatrace are low, however licensing costs are high. The product is really fast to implement and gives customers instant value. This is important, because it reduces costs on the implementation.

SiteScope licensing can be node based-or monitor-based. I would recommend for node-based licensing. You have to pay for their "solution templates". Other tools do not charge you for knowledge-based monitoring bundles.
