Pros
This is a superior and reliable backup system that can handle large capacities with little management. The backup is very secure. The deduplication using EMC is very good. We are able to make systems and handle random cloning. EMC is a very stable solution for making backups. The product provides good backup and compression services. The solution's most valuable feature is the integrated deduplication function. It's very easy to use the domain once it's been set up. The interface is also user-friendly.The most valuable features are the deduplication and compression and the Data Domain Boost. We have never had any issues with Data Domain. Cons
The product lacks some security features that would make it more stand-alone and integrated. They should reduce the CPC cost to customers. The product is becoming very expensive. The licensing model was the biggest concern for our company, but the poor support after the initial implementation is of equal concern. The pricing could be better, but it's still not too expensive. The firmware upgrades could be simplified. I'm in the process of struggling to upgrade right now.We have had deduplication and replication issues. When we used another backup software we noticed that it didn't have the same issues. We are not able to deal directly with the OEM we have to go to their partners in Nigeria. The pricing model needs to be improved.

The repository should have an extension to connect to the cloud and deposit the backups. The solution should continue to refine its integration capabilities. I also see they are starting to use cloud integration as well, which is good, but they should do more to integrate with it.I would like to see an emphasis placed on making data deduplication and compression more powerful. The solution's pricing could be improved. The solution would be improved if it could also be used as a data store for VMware. The appliance doesn't have the global deduplication, it has StoreOnce deduplication. It does not deduplicate across the appliance, it will deduplicate in one particular store. With the global deduplication, I could store more data. This product would be improved with the inclusion of more features to security or WORM.The product could be improved with better support for data protection.

Pricing and Cost Advice
This is one of the more expensive backup solutions on the market. There are many options in the pricing structure which can cause some confusion and necessitate the purchase of additional licensing. In Naira it was twenty-five or twenty-seven million (approximately $75,000 USD) for the implementation and maintenance cost for three years.Pricing is related to size. A lower range solution might be about $33,000. My customers use higher range versions with a price of around $100,000. That's the price for both the hardware and software. It is expensive, but the performance and deduplication cover for the cost.
