We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Compared to other products in this category that are competing with Dell EMC, Dell seems to us to always come out on top.""Automatic rebalancing is the feature saving administration time.""We are using it as the primary virtualization storage (both for internal corporate users and external customers) for VMware and Hyper-V virtualization platforms.""They know how to clearly present any important data, including data flow and each drive's IOPS/bandwidth; and allow the user to easily monitor bottlenecks and problems"

"I've worked on both EMC and NetApp SANs, and this is by far the easiest system to maintain""The most valuable feature is the VM management.""Among the most valuable features are its granular replication, the ability to define asynchronous or synchronous replication, which gives us very definable RTOs and RPOs around that type of service, and granular quality-of-service configuration, which allows for cases where you've got multiple customers on a single Tintri, but you want to be able to offer strong quality-of-service metrics and KPIs.""The cloning is very fast... Another aspect I like is that it's very simple. It's an easy GUI to use.""It is great for finding problems where VMs are hogging all the performance.""The ability to snap machines into VMware quickly is valuable.""You can control resources on a per VM basis to ensure that contention in resources does not hamper performance.""The most valuable aspect of the solution was how fast it worked on behalf of VDI desktops."

Cons
"If they could introduce a write cache feature, the product would be perfect overall.""There is room for improvement in the area of horizontal scaling.""It would be nice to set minimum IOPS per volume, besides just the maximum, to be able to satisfy this demand from customers out-of-the-box, not by calculating number of disks, etc.""Ecosystem around the product: There is no built-in system for viewing history data, such as volume IOPS. We have to provide graphing by Prometheus and Grafana, which would be a good new feature in ScaleIO."

"Technical support is an area where we had several issues, and it was hard to get some support in a specific case we had. I'm not very satisfied with them.""The biggest area for improvement, and there has been some roadmap work in this area already, is cloud integration... Tintri has been investing in this area and I'm sure will continue to, but cloud integration has been the biggest area that we've been crossing our fingers and hoping for quick development around.""I would like it to have the ability to store data other than virtual machines. At the moment, you can only connect VMs to it, and that’s a bit disappointing.""Tintri need to be able to innovate faster but maintain the quality of their features.""The Tintri OS and GlobalCenter software do a great job of showing you troubled VMs, however it still could be a bit more helpful in diagnosing the issues.""We need more options to integrate with cloud storage options other than the current AWS and IBM that it currently supports.""Their current replication is really just enough to "check the box" that they do replication. We'll probably implement Actifio, Zerto or EMC RecoverPoint for VMs for more critical data replication.""It would be beneficial if Tintri could identify issues through telemetry and notify us before we need to contact them."
