Advanced level endpoint firewall, which helps to block unwanted and malicious traffic.
What is great about ESET is the ERA Web Console through which we can pull various reports, monitor and administer all clients and servers, and the console is easy to use.
A feature we like is setting the GUI of ESET Endpoint Security/ESET File Security to silent mode because some servers and clients can have performance issues.
We use ESET, which is pretty much perfect for us. It is also absolutely simple and automatic once setup.
We have not picked up a bug yet, because we use ESET, which is a tried and proven system.
It is absolutely invisible once running.
It effectively catches unwanted stuff. It has saved our bacon over many years.
Easy to use security solution, helps to secure connected devices against viruses in the digital world.
It has plugins development options, which are great.
Patch Management for a variety of operating systems makes it valuable as we can rely on a single tool for obtaining patch compliance of the entire compute infrastructure.
Patch management, because it very much improved the patch compliance and has the capability to manage Windows and non-Windows clients.
Vulnerability scanning and patch automation.
The architecture for patching and the 100% correct reporting makes BigFix stand apart from other solutions.
Ability to run custom reports and custom relevance.
Pre-packaged support for many third-party applications such as Adobe, Google, Mozilla, Sun (Java), WinZip, and others.
In terms of vulnerability management, it gives tough competition by providing a single management console with multiple benefits.
ESET should consider giving it application control.
They need to improve licensing for VMs. When ESET is uninstalled from a VM, the seat stays on the license management server. We have to manually delete the seat from that server because it doesn't know how to handle it. I contacted exclusive ESET support here in Croatia and they told me there is no solution for this yet.
iOS compatibility for mobile security and parental control.
The product is quite buggy and complicated to use.
Relay selection and availability needs improvement as an incorrect relay selected can cause network chokes.
Needs to improve Network Access Protection (NAP) technologies to prevent computers with vulnerabilities from gaining access to networks.
There is no support for patch management on SLES on IBM pSeries (only the Intel platform is supported).
The new EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) feature, Detect, is new and still needs a few updates.
We need a much better multi-tenant option.
IBM has not focused on the Web Reports capabilities.
The tool should be more friendly in terms of Web UI and should be having better vulnerability scanning mechanisms so a third-party application is not required to fulfill that aspect.
Pricing and Cost Advice
The cost is a very reasonable. When compared with other products, the price is low (though not very low).
ESET is perfect, if you can afford it.
Pricing per month, for security services as apps in CEE pricing: up to €2 monthly is OK.
I would stay with the Managed Virtual Server license model, which is a 1-to-1 license per OS whether it is virtual or physical.
When purchasing, buying with other IBM tools provided us with a very good discount in pricing.
I can estimate the reduced cost of servers maintenance to approximatively $500,000.

IBM BigFix provides complete visibility and control into all endpoints through a single, unified platform. Enterprises can now bridge the bridge the gap between threat detection and response, drastically reducing remediation times and costs by consolidating best-in-class EDR, enterprise asset discovery, endpoint interrogation, rich threat intelligence, multi-platform patch management (90+ OS) and software distribution. Security and operations teams can see, understand and act on all endpoint threats while proactively reducing the attack surface. • SEE: Discover and audit every endpoint, on or off the corporate network—and rapidly detect evasive attacks using behavioral analytics that understand how attackers compromise your endpoints. • UNDERSTAND: Guided investigation enables security analysts to understand the full context and scope of an attack based on real-time endpoint information, not just historical data. • ACT: Respond with purpose. BigFix provides the capability to deliver targeted remediation—not only on patient zero but enterprise-wide—in minutes or hours.
