We performed a comparison between ETL Solutions Transformation Manager and IBM InfoSphere DataStage based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Data Integration solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Back in the day, we could only get reports and analyze what happened after the fact, but today now we can generate real-time insights. Transformation Manager feeds your data science projects. We generate models and then give them to the clients, so they can come up with real-time predictions and recommendations in addition to reporting."
"It is a reliable solution."
"It is among the best, even if not widely known."
"Compared to other ETL tools, DataStage has excellent debugging and development capabilities. And the availability of connectors, even though we sometimes have to opt for specific ones. Also, the availability of patches is good."
"As a data integration platform, it is easy to use. It is quite robust and useful for volumetric analysis when you have huge volumes of data. We have tested it for up to ten million rows, and it is robust enough to process ten million rows internally with its parallel processing. Its error logging mechanism is far simpler and easier to understand than other data integration tools. The newer version of InfoSphere has the data catalog and IDC lineage. They are helpful in the easy traceability of columns and tables."
"The solution's scalability is really good...we are using multi-instance jobs where you can scale them easily."
"We like the flexibility of modeling."
"It's a robust solution."
"The data lineage report can be filtered for reporting. The reports are user-friendly and take less time to find what you need."
"IBM is stable and accurate to monitor. It's easy to understand to monitor the data lineage from source to target."
"The Hierarchical Data Stage is good."
"They should build a functional architecture based on queuing."
"There is room for improvement in the solution's visualization tool."
"Transformation Manager reporting could be better. There are better options for reporting tools these days. We use Microsoft BI sometimes, but Tableau is becoming too expensive. Microsoft BI's visualization features are maturing."
"It takes a lot of time to actually trigger your job and then go into the logs and other stuff. So all of this is really time-consuming."
"The interface needs work to be more user-friendly."
"The pricing should be lower."
"The documentation and in-application help for this solution need to be improved, especially for new features."
"The setup is extremely difficult."
"Working with some of the big data components is good, but I can see improvements are needed."
"In the future, I would like to see more integration with cloud technologies."
"The initial setup could be more straightforward."
