We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We have no complaints about the features or functionality.""The most valuable feature is the performance because unlike legacy SIEMs that were on-premises, it does not require as much maintenance.""The most valuable feature is the onboarding of the workloads. You can see all that has been onboarded in your account on the dashboards.""Sentinel has an intuitive, user-friendly way to visualize the data properly. It gives me a solid overview of all the logs. We get a more detailed view that I can't get from the other SIEM tools. It has some IP and URL-specific allow listing""Previously, it was a little bit difficult to find where an incident came from, including which IP address and which country. So in Sentinel, it's very easy to find where the incident came from since we can easily get the information from the dashboard, after which we take action quickly.""The automation rules and playbooks are the most useful that I've seen. A number of other places segregate the automation and playbook as separate tools, whereas Microsoft is a SIEM and SOAR tool in one.""I like the ability to run custom KQL queries. I don't know if that feature is specific to Sentinel. As far as I know, they are using technology built into Azure's Log Analytics app. Sentinel integrates with that, and we use this functionality heavily.""We didn't have anything similar. So, it really provides value from the incidents and automation point of view. The overview of the security fabric is most valuable."

"It's a very user-friendly product and it's a very comprehensive technology.""Exabeam Fusion SIEM has a good performance and more advantages than traditional solutions.""Timeline based analysis; good platform support""The setup is not difficult. It was easy.""The advanced analytics has a really great overview of user behavior.""The way it can connect with AWS is very useful, and the integrations are pretty good.""The most valuable feature of Exabeam Fusion SIEM is the easy-to-use user interface.""The user interface and the timelines they use are the most valuable features. The price model is very simple so that one can understand it easily and there are no surprises within it."

More Exabeam Fusion SIEM Pros →

"It is stable.""I have made use of technical support and am certainly very satisfied with them.""The user interface is very good.""The initial setup is straightforward""The log management has helped to improve my organization.""It's one of the easiest products. It's very simple to use.""The most valuable features of ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer are the number of capabilities, file integration monitoring, web server log collection, and alert configuration.""ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer is easy to gather reports to give to management. My supervisor has access to the solution and he enjoys the graphs."

Cons
"The dashboards can be improved. Creating dashboards is very easy, but the visualizations are not as good as Microsoft Power BI. People who are using Microsoft Power BI do not like Sentinel's dashboards.""The playbook is a bit difficult and could be improved.""They could use some kind of workbook. There is some limitation doing the editing and creating the workbook.""At the network level, there is a limitation in integrating some of the switches or routers with Microsoft Sentinel. Currently, SPAN traffic monitoring is not available in Microsoft Sentinel. I have heard that it is available in Defender for Identity, which is a different product. It would be good if LAN traffic monitoring or SPAN traffic monitoring is available in Microsoft Sentinel. It would add a lot of value. It is available in some of the competitor products in the market.""It has been a challenge with Azure Sentinel to onboard the Syslog server from FortiGate. Azure Sentinel can work better on that shift between the Syslog server and a firewall.""Sentinel's reporting is complex and can be more user-friendly.""In terms of features I would like to see in future releases, I'm interested in a few more use cases around automation. I do believe a lot of automation is available, and more is in progress, but that would be my area of interest.""Currently, the watchlist feature is being utilized, and although there have been improvements, it is still not fully optimized."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"I believe if it were more flexible it would be a better product.""We still have questions surrounding hardware deployment.""The initial setup of Exabeam Fusion SIEM is complex because it needs to integrate with the SIEM solution, but after this is complete it is straightforward.""The only problem is that the UI is not very impressive.""They should provide detailed information about detecting phishing emails.""They need to focus on more of the MITRE ATT&CK Framework and coverage. They claim they cover about 70 to 80%. I'm not sure if it's really quite that much, however.""Adding to the number of certifications that they have, for example, ISO 27001, would be helpful.""The organzation is rigid and not flexible in the way they operate"

More Exabeam Fusion SIEM Cons →

"I would like to see more detailed reports.""It may not be as easy to use as Splunk.""The scalability is limited.""The customization of reports could be a lot easier. It is not difficult but it could be made easier.""The solution is stable. However, there are limits. For example, we can do 2,500 Syslog events per second, but if we want to do more we have to install the distributor structure, and then we can expand how many events we can do. They could improve the stability.""There isn't good security integration when it comes to cybersecurity. The correlation of logs isn't so simple.""What I'd like to see as an improvement to ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer is for it to be more AI-driven. Having more automation would also make the solution better.""The solution should improve on its log capturing capabilities."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "They have a great model for pricing that can be based either on user count or gigabits per day."

  • "The solution is expensive."
