We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The part that was very unexpected was Sentinel's ability to integrate with Azure Lighthouse, which, as a managed services solution provider, gives us the ability to also manage our customers' Sentinel environments or Sentinel workspaces. It is a big plus for us. With its integration with Lighthouse, we get the ability to monitor multiple workspaces from one portal. A lot of the Microsoft Sentinel workbooks already integrate with that capability, and we save countless amounts of money by simply being able to almost immediately realize multitenant capabilities. That alone is a big plus for us.""Sentinel has an intuitive, user-friendly way to visualize the data properly. It gives me a solid overview of all the logs. We get a more detailed view that I can't get from the other SIEM tools. It has some IP and URL-specific allow listing""The Identity Behavior tab furnishes us with the entire history linked to each IP or domain that has either accessed or attempted to access our system.""The log analysis is excellent; it can predict what can or will happen regarding use patterns and vulnerabilities.""The automation feature is valuable.""We have no complaints about the features or functionality.""Native integration with Microsoft security products or other Microsoft software is also crucial. For example, we can integrate Sentinel with Office 365 with one click. Other integrations aren't as easy. Sometimes, we have to do it manually.""The most valuable features are its threat handling and detection. It's a powerful tool because it's based on machine learning and on the behavior of malware."

"Timeline based analysis; good platform support""The most valuable feature of Exabeam Fusion SIEM is the easy-to-use user interface.""Exabeam Fusion SIEM has a good performance and more advantages than traditional solutions.""The advanced analytics has a really great overview of user behavior.""It's a very user-friendly product and it's a very comprehensive technology.""The solution's initial setup process is easy.""The user interface and the timelines they use are the most valuable features. The price model is very simple so that one can understand it easily and there are no surprises within it.""The setup is not difficult. It was easy."

"It's a solid platform and is stable enough. It is not complicated and is easy to use.""The most valuable features are ease of use and the ability to customize it.""ThreatConnect has a highly user-friendly interface.""The product automatically generated a threat score based on the maliciousness of an IP."

Cons
"I can't think of anything other than just getting the name out there. I think a lot of customers don't fully understand the full capabilities of Azure Sentinel yet. It is kind of like when they're first starting to use Azure, it might not be something they first think about. So, they should just kind of get to the point where it is more widely used.""The playbook is a bit difficult and could be improved.""Some of the data connectors are outdated, at least the ones that utilize Linux machines for log forwarding. I believe that Microsoft is already working on improving this.""Microsoft should improve Sentinel, considering that from the legacy systems, it cannot collect logs.""The on-prem log sources still require a lot of development.""We do have in-built or out-of-the-box metrics that are shown on the dashboard, but it doesn't give the kind of metrics that we need from our environment whereby we need to check the meantime to detect and meantime to resolve an incident. I have to do it manually. I have to pull all the logs or all the alerts that are fed into Sentinel over a certain period. We do this on a monthly basis, so I go into Microsoft Sentinel and pull all the alerts or incidents we closed over a period of thirty days.""Everyone has their favorites. There is always room for improvement, and everybody will say, "I wish you could do this for me or that for me." It is a personal thing based on how you use the tool. I do not necessarily have those thoughts, and they are probably not really valuable because they are unique to the context of the user, but broadly, where it can continue to improve is by adding more connectors to more systems.""The only thing is sometimes you can have a false positive."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"The organzation is rigid and not flexible in the way they operate""We had a large volume right from the beginning and they weren't quite prepared for that. That's something that they should think about when it comes to customers that have a large volume to start off with.""They need to focus on more of the MITRE ATT&CK Framework and coverage. They claim they cover about 70 to 80%. I'm not sure if it's really quite that much, however.""They should provide detailed information about detecting phishing emails.""Adding to the number of certifications that they have, for example, ISO 27001, would be helpful.""Updating the new release of Exabeam Fusion SIEM takes time and slows our performance.""The initial setup of Exabeam Fusion SIEM is complex because it needs to integrate with the SIEM solution, but after this is complete it is straightforward.""The only problem is that the UI is not very impressive."

More Exabeam Fusion SIEM Cons →

"It would be good to have more feeds and more integrated sources for enrichment.""Integration is an area that could use some improvement.""They should make it a little bit easier to generate events and share them with the community""I couldn’t get any training videos online when I was working with the tool."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."
  • More Microsoft Sentinel Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "They have a great model for pricing that can be based either on user count or gigabits per day."
  • "There is an annual license required to use Exabeam Fusion SIEM. The price of the solution should be reduced."
  • "Exabeam Fusion SIEM's pricing is reasonable."
  • "The solution is expensive."
