Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Within advanced threat hunting, the tables that have already been defined by Microsoft are helpful. In the advanced threat hunting tab, there were different tables, and one of the tables was related to device info, device alert, and device events. That was very helpful. Another feature that I liked but didn't have access to was deep analysis.""From the perspective of Microsoft 365 XDR, the main benefit is a single, centralized dashboard offering the holistic visibility organizations crave.""The most valuable feature depends on the scenario. For compliance, I like Microsoft Purview Information Protection and Data Loss Prevention. Sentinel is the most helpful feature for security. 365 Defender helps us prioritize threats across an enterprise. It's a crucial feature for the managed services team.""Microsoft 365 Defender is simple to upgrade.""Microsoft Defender's most critical component is its CASB solution. It has many built-in policies that can improve your organization's cloud security posture. It's effective regardless of where your users are, which is critical because most users are working from home. It's cloud-based, so nothing is on-premise.""Among the most valuable features are the alert timeline, the alert story, which is pretty detailed. It gives us complete insight into what exactly happened on the endpoint. It doesn't just say, "Malware detected." It tells us what caused that malware to be detected and how it was detected. It gives us a complete timeline from beginning to end.""Defender XDR has a feature called the timeline that lets you track all activities. It helps a lot with investigations.""The 'Incidents and Alerts' tab is a valuable feature where we can find triggered alerts."

"Reporting is great, it is easy to do a quick search through 45 days of data for something of interest.""It has also improved our hunt ability with quick search tools, to zone in on malware or other anomalies. It is able to link items to incidents from other consoles, and works natively with the SIEM.""It ensures the stability of network behavior across various aspects of our network and offers responsive capabilities to address incidents promptly""The initial setup is very straightforward. The deployment of the server doesn't take so long; about a day or two max.""The solution's technical support is perfect, so I rate the technical support a ten out of ten""Compared to similar solutions, it's quite scalable. You just need to add more storage to scale-up.""After rack and stack, devices were up and running base configurations within two hours. As with any IPS, tuning is required to stop false positives. This is no different, but the ease of use of the interface allowed my team to start making adjustments within a few hours.""There are many valuable features. The NDR gives very good network visibility, and the endpoint module has a great feature called "Live Connect" for remote connections. They also have "Tasks" that can be run on endpoints to gather specific information or retrieve logs."

"They have recently updated the features and the most valuable ones are the instant threat response, ease of use, web interface, integration, and easy access. RSA NetWitness Endpoint is very compatible with other solutions and technologies. However, they do not rely on third-party solutions and have most features built-in.""Ability to isolate the machine when there are malicious files.""The interface of this solution is very flexible and easy to use.""It helps our security team respond more accurately when there are threats, then we get less false positives or negatives.""The stability of the RSA NetWitness Endpoint is very good.""Technical support is knowledgeable.""It's a scalable solution. We have around five to eight customers using RSA NetWitness Endpoint, and we hope to increase the number of users.""It is stable. We have been using it for some time, without any issues."

Cons
"The design of the user interface could use some work. Sometimes it's hard to find the exact information you need.""Support is hit or miss. Microsoft wants you to buy premium support contracts. Though they call themselves professional support, it's almost like throwing questions into a black hole. You get an answer, but it's never helpful.""One of the biggest downsides of Microsoft products, in general, is that the menus are often difficult to find, as they tend to move from place to place between versions.""Offboarding latency should be reduced. Even after a device has been successfully offboarded using a particular offboarding script, it still shows up as onboarded.""Automated playbooks and automated dashboards would be preferable to the way the data is currently being presented.""Generally, antivirus products provide a central control to manage every device in terms of who is installing it or who is trying to disable it, but Microsoft doesn't have such a control center for the antivirus product it provides.""The only issue I've had is, when it comes to deployment, the steps I must take around policy setup. That is challenging.""Microsoft 365 Defender does not have a unique package with emerging endpoint security technologies, such as EDR and XDR."

More Microsoft Defender XDR Cons →

"The interface bug needs to be squashed once and for all. This has been the predominant issue with an otherwise stellar product. It reboots itself unscheduled, about once a month, due to a memory buffer flaw in the interface.""I encounter difficulty removing certain entries in behavior or alerts; likewise, I am unable to add specific calls.""We position the solution as an antivirus, but this part of the solution needs improvement. They need to generally enhance the features that they have, rather than adding anything new.""Configuration, in terms of building the collector and communicating with endpoints, is complex.""The reports in the endpoint area of Elevate can be improved.""Fidelis Endpoint is an expensive product making it one of its shortcomings that needs improvement.""There is room for improvement in email security. It's a security issue. If you're aiming for XDR, covering the entire threat landscape is crucial."

More Fidelis Elevate Cons →

"NetWitness Endpoint's blocking feature does not work properly - if there's a malicious process, it's not possible to kill it via a custom rule unless and until it's flagged as malicious.""RSA NetWitness Network could improve on integration with non-native application integration.""The solution is modular, for example you can buy the RSA ePack, which you buy as a module is not part of the conduit solution. They could include it and have it as an all-in-one solution.""We would like to see the hunting and investigation features of this solution improved, in order to provide better visibility of issues.""The deployment process is complex. I don't know why, but this solution will suddenly stop working. Logs stop coming. Often, one thing or another stops working. Most of the time, one of my team members is working with troubleshooting and working with technical support. Log passing is also one of the biggest challenge.""The solution lacks a reporting engine.""I would like to see Security Orchestration and Response Automation (SOAR) integration.""Its price could be improved. It is an expensive product. Its training is also too expensive. It would be great if they can have a better pricing scheme for the training."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solutions price is fair for what they offer."
  • "The price could be better. Normally, the costs depend on the country you're located in for the license. When we were in the initial stage, we went with the E5 license they call premium standard. It cost us around $5.20 per month for four users."
  • "The price of the solution is high compared to others and we have lost some customers because of it."
  • "Microsoft is not competitive with the pricing of the solution. The competitors are able to offer lower discounts. The price of the solution is higher."
  • "We have a lot of problems in Latin America regarding the price of Microsoft 365 Defender, because the relationship between dollars and the money of the different countries, it's is a lot. Many customers that have small businesses say that they would like the solution but it is too expensive. However, large companies do not find the cost an issue."
  • "The most valuable licensing option is expensive, so pricing could be improved. Licensing options for this solution also need to be consolidated, because they frequently change."
  • "Microsoft should provide lower-level licensing options. They should do it in such a way that even an individual could purchase a license, and it should be entirely flexible."
  • "They have moved from a licensing model to pay-per-use... The question is: What happens if, for any reason, there's not enough budget to accept this model? That could be a great problem."

  • "You license by the number of days of logs you need to maintain visibility for. Forty-five days is a good solid number for a company with around a 10k user base."
  • "It's quite expensive but we can customize it to reduce the price."
  • "Fidelis Endpoint is an expensive product. My company makes yearly payments toward the licensing cost of the solution."
  • "It's somehow expensive. From one to ten, I would rate it a five. They need to improve the prices. It's very high."

  • "With RSA, there is flexibility in choosing the service, products, and the range that meets your requirement, as well as they are flexible in terms of pricing."
  • "They can easily adjust if you have the requirements which are required. If you have a budget cut or a budget constraint, they can bend."
  • "It is highly scalable. It can be bought based on your requirements."
  • "I do not have any opinion on the pricing or licensing of the product."
  • "The cost depends on the number of endpoints that you want to monitor, but it is not expensive."
  • "It is an expensive product."
  • "The price of the solution depends on the environment. If the environment is large then it will cost more. However, the larger the environment with more endpoints, you will receive an increased discount. If the environment is very small, then you might think it is expensive. It is always better to buy in bulk to receive a discount. The minimum number of assets is usually 500, with discounts on 1000 and 2000."
  • "The pricing is not very economical. It is a quite costly product for India. One thing is that when you purchase it, you have to purchase a module separately."
