Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"In Azure Sentinel, we have found, they do have a store in their capability. AI and intelligence features. We found that to be very helpful for us because some other things we do need to integrate again or find another vendor for the store""The analytic rule is the most valuable feature.""Microsoft Sentinel provides the capability to integrate different log sources. On top of having several data connectors in place, you can also do integration with a threat intelligence platform to enhance and enrich the data that's available. You can collect as many logs and build all the use cases.""One of the most valuable features is that it creates a kind of a single pane of glass for organizations that already use Microsoft software. So, when they have things like Microsoft 365, it is very easy for them to kind of plug in or enroll those endpoints into the Azure Sentinel service.""Free ingestion for Azure logs (with E5 licence)""We’ve got process improvement that's happened across multiple different fronts within the organization, within our IT organization based on this tool being in place.""The connectivity and analytics are great.""Sentinel pricing is good"

"There are things like dashboards and reports (pre-configured and custom) that let me know that things are operating the way they should be, and when they are not.""I like the various options, including the option for CMDB and the easier access to create rules, playbooks, or use cases. It's also easier to use for creating dashboards and reports.""We like the integration of all of these Fortinet platforms together. Everything is integrated well, and we are able to sell that as a service to our customers.""The ability to write my own parsers for the devices that are not supported by Fortinet is the most valuable feature.""Fortinet FortiSIEM is less costly than other products and is available 24/7.""Real-time monitoring makes life quite easy for me.""I like FortiSIEM because it integrates natively with our other Fortinet solutions and the Fortinet Fabric, but it also integrates with Cisco, Palo Alto and other security fabrics.""We find the solution to be stable."

"FireEye Helix's best features are its speed and use of an easy-to-understand language to send queries to the raw logs.""It is kind of simple and very easily deployable. You can start working with it very fast.""The most valuable features include predefined use cases and threatening states.""The integration is very useful and very easy. You can have an API connection with any cloud and I'll be able to do both ways of communication with the help of APA.""Trellix Helix helps prevent email attacks, like phishing and email spoofing attacks.""The product offers very strong automation. Our cyber security analysts don't have to correlate the information to detect problems. They only need to analyze problems that have been identified by the platform.""I like that it's easy. It's got the protection set up, and we can see whatever is required. We write our own rules and the rules that we can input. I think it is good."

Cons
"They should just add more and more out-of-the-box connectors. It is quite a new product, and it has a lot of connectors, and even more would be good.""The performance could be improved. If I create 15 to 20 lines for a single-use case in KQL, sometimes it takes more time to execute. If I create use cases within a certain timeline, the result will show in .01 seconds. A complex query takes more time to get results.""They can work on the EDR side of things... Every time we need to onboard these kinds of machines into the EDR, we need to do it with the help of Intune, to sync up the devices, and do the configuration. I'm looking for something on the EDR side that will reduce this kind of work.""Sentinel's reporting is complex and can be more user-friendly.""The playbook is a bit difficult and could be improved.""They could use some kind of workbook. There is some limitation doing the editing and creating the workbook.""The reporting could be more structured.""When we pass KPIs to the governance department, there's no option to provide rights to the data or dashboard to colleagues. We can use Power BI for this, but it isn't easy or convenient. They should just come up with a way to provide limited role-based access to auditing personnel"

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"The performance can be improved. Sometimes it takes a long time to fetch data.""Areas for improvement would be the ease of use and the integration with Fortinet's own products.""The support of the product changed recently, and I don't think it's for the better. They should work to improve the support they offer to clients.""Not very good on non-API features, lacks that functionality.""There could be more AI features included in the product.""I would like to see easier implementation in the future.""The biggest thing that could be better is a quicker response to support cases.""The solution needs to do a better job with third party integration. Right now, that's lacking on the solution. I specifically am talking about the AWS environment. Most of the AWS environment products do not have that capability to integrate."

More Fortinet FortiSIEM Cons →

"Integrations could be improved, and the dashboard could be a little better.""Trellix Helix's configuration and learning could be improved to identify normal traffic from abnormal and to identify trusted domains.""It should have more cloud connectors. It could also be cheaper.""FireEye Helix would be improved with the option of an on-prem version, which they don't currently offer.""We have certain challenges with integrating the SOAR platform with multiple vendors.""Sometimes the rules are disabled by FireEye, and we basically get it after the patch. I think there needs to be a better way of creating the application rules. I would like to see better pricing for our licensing.""The graphical user interface could be improved. It's not easy to handle and it's not easy for a customer or end-user to learn how to manage the solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."
  • More Microsoft Sentinel Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Please be cheaper and more simplified."
  • "We bought the perpetual license, so we own the product, but there is a three-year support renewal fee for that."
  • "Pricing is acceptable for more than 90% of our customers, as they normally get discounts."
  • "Its price can be better. We are Fortinet partners, so we can get discounts, but its price can be an issue at the beginning for others. There is a licensing scheme for every case. There are three licensing schemes that we can choose from."
  • "The price of Fortinet FortiSIEM is a lot less when compared to other solutions."
  • "They have a yearly subscription."
  • "The solution is available for both, perpetual and subscription licenses."
  • "Manageable, however would be better as pay as you go versus CapEX."
  • More Fortinet FortiSIEM Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The price could be better. But I think it's rightly placed when we buy everything in one shot, and we get some discount for that. That's how we basically plan our deployment, and it's holistic. We pay for the license yearly."
  • "It could be cheaper, but that applies to every product."
  • "FireEye Helix is a little expensive."
  • "I rate Trellix Helix a five out of ten for pricing."
