We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution is very good at preventing intrusions. You can definitely rely on this solution to cover your security.""It is extremely stable, and can expand as per our needs due to its stability.""The dashboard is very simple. It has an easy to use interface.""The most valuable features of this solution are the security aspects.""We use it to protect files and to prevent users from browsing them while they are being used.""The biggest thing, for us lately, has been their cloud tools. They're like Intercept X from Sophos, where they'll test for ransomware. Fortinet has the same sort of set up with their cloud devices. So your firewall picks up something suspicious, it sends it up to the cloud for analysis. We also have their in-house antivirus. Having different antivirus checkpoints throughout the network is a good thing as well."

"There are three major main use cases of this solution. The first one is to fulfill compliance regulations. Customers—especially the banks, health sector, and manufacturing—need to comply with the regulations in different countries. They have to fulfill compliance regulations around the privacy of data. In order to fulfill those requirements, they're using Imperva. It helps them to fulfill these requirements, and they are not fined by the regulators. That is the first use case why people buy Imperva.""The most valuable feature is the automatic reports on new databases, which gives us up-to-date inventory management.""I like Imperva SecureSphere platform forms. Imperva SecureSphere is the foundation for SecureSphere data, file and web application solutions.""They have very good documentation and knowledgebase resources that add to the depth of their support.""The functionality is very useable and easy to understand.""Imperva's most valuable features are ease of use and log correlation. I also like the ability to trace activity from the host machine to the server access, the user details, and the exact query that they executed. If a database administrator or application process executes a query on the database, people know exactly what was executed, including all the variables.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the database security policy.""It has a lot of different components that cover the needs of our customers."

Cons
"I would like better APIs and integration with other products, like Python and SQL.""The pricing of this solution is a little bit on the high side and can be improved.""Some use case analyses could be improved.""They need to improve the web filter to make it more user-friendly.""We had some issues trying to fix some critical bugs, such as the SSL encryption.""I'm an old-school guy. I really don't like web GUI interfaces. They're always slow and laggy and their design is restricted, whereas a binary deployment for an admin tool is always faster, easier, more flexible. I would like that kind of functionality from Fortinet."

More Fortinet FortiDB [EOL] Cons →

"The firewall features are not very strong and should be improved.""Imperva needs to improve their cloud capabilities.""It would be better to update the solution by using a GUI that guides me, rather than through a CLI.""Its reporting can be improved. The reporting feature is currently not good enough for our clients.""They can maybe look at its pricing model. Its pricing could be cheaper for the African countries or developing economies.""I would like to see improvement in the integration part of the tool. This should be an easy process.""There is sometimes lost communication and it can take a lot of troubleshooting to solve.""Overall, it's a very good product but they could do with some modifications log-wise."

  • "It is not expensive."
  • "In the licensing model, the licenses are a little bit expensive."
  • "The cost needs to be reduced."

  • "Licensing fees are on a yearly basis, and it is a good value for the money."
  • "There is an annual licensing fee for upgrading the device."
  • "Pricing is low and scalable to add features and volume."
  • "The pricing over-all depends on the entry level. For example, if support and maintenance are about $20,000 - $25,000, the initial cost can be five times more. It is less expensive for the company to maintain the client than to make the deployment."
  • "We have all the licenses, which we pay for annually. The price is a little high, but the product is good."
  • "They have introduced new price models, which makes the product more affordable now."
  • "The price is very high but compared to the price of the overall solution, then I think it's a good deal because the solution itself is great."
