"We use a southern institution that's audited for IT security and the reporting that automatically comes off the unit makes it much easier to meet compliance standards and makes it easier as far as the amount of time that has to be spent to compile that information. If you get your reporting set up correctly when you initially set it up, you just select the one you want and hit print. The auditing trail on it is the best feature."
"It's great for capturing the traffic and troubleshooting it."
"The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate are it is one of the most mature firewalls in the UTM bundle."
"It is a good source for firewall protection."
"Secure, user-friendly, stable, and scalable network security solution. Installation is straightforward."
"Overall, this is a very simple and very effective firewall, and I am satisfied with it."
"I have found the threat profile feature valuable."
"The most valuable feature of Palo Alto Networks K2-Series is the performance which is above their competitors. The throughput they have delivered is good. When we used other solutions they failed the deployment when we were using different rules. They have a theory perform performance light and performance degradation. However, Palo Alto Networks K2-Series never fails in that scenario."
"Everything I could possibly want has already been implanted in the new version."
"The company is inventive and always adds a lot of great features."
"The scalability of the product is quite high."
"I have found that Palo Alto Networks K2-Series has the best security. They are more user-friendly, older firewalls used to have to be configured using the command-line interface, but in this solution, it can be done in the GUI."
"Palo Alto has a unique solution for DNS security, which is very good."
"We would like to see an upgrade to the VPN feature, we are using the VPN from outside of our office and there is a limitation to 10 connections, more connections would be suitable."
"I think there could be more QoS features"
"It is very expensive, and their support is not very good. I hope that their technical support will be better in the future."
"There is room for improvement related to the logging and reporting aspect."
"The initial setup is complex."
"The solution lacks sufficient filtering."
"Some of the web policy reports could be improved."
"The solution can have more features in a single box that can be multi-applied to integrate everything."
"They could improve by providing more features in the solution."
"In the past, we've had trouble with Palo Alto's application filtering not getting it right. I would not be recommending layer 7 application filtering yet."
"Higher levels of support are excellent but new users may need additional options."
"The password function of the solution could be improved. Additionally, some of the processes take too long to complete."
"The tool needs to improve integration with more products from other vendors. I would like the product to add threat intelligence features as well."
"Palo Alto releases a lot of bug fixes for their firewalls, which means it's necessary to do frequent upgrades. They should work on decreasing their bugs so that upgrades aren't needed so often."
"I would like to see the threat intelligence capability integrated with other vendors such as Cisco and Forcepoint."
"Some users do not accept cloud-based data processing. They prefer on-premises functionality, especially for advanced threat analysis. While the general trend is moving towards cloud, specific customer needs should be considered. Perhaps certain functionalities, particularly in advanced threat analysis, could be offered as an on-premises option for those clients."

In the best tradition of these questions, Feature-wise both are quite similar, but each has things it's better at, it kind of depends what you value most.
PA is good at app control, web filtering and such like, they have always been top of the pile there. The GUI is very good, and their product is very user-focused.
Fortinet is good for scalability and predictable high throughput (ASICs in the hardware), and useful things like authentication flexibility, CLI config (if you have any networking/Cisco people, they always seem to prefer CLI over GUI) and have better OT features, maybe relevant to your manufacturing use?
Fortinet seem to have a broader integration offering with their security fabric than PA do, plus they can do Fortinet-based wifi, switching, etc. Depends if you are prepared to go all-in with a single vendor.
