Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"We have been able to consolidate storage into Pavilion. Pavilions are our only SANs because it is a bring your own disk solution. When new drives come out, we are able to take out half of the drives in the system, put in new drives, move our VMs over to the new drives, take the other drives out, and populate those with new drives. Then, we are suddenly twice as dense as we were before. NVMe flash is only going to get denser and cheaper so we can make use of that every couple of years by just throwing newer disks into it at a fraction of the cost of a new SAN.""The high performance is very valuable, as well as the enterprise reliability features.""There's lots of flexibility in how we use the resources while also maintaining a small footprint."

"The most valuable features are that it is easy to implement and configure, easy to use, and really reliable."

"Karbon is a must-have as it drastically simplifies the deployment of Kubernetes.""The solution offers impressive performance.""Everything is core centralized on the UI.""We like that the size of the box is 1U or 2U only, and all the servers are fit into that box. The ease of operation is there. All the servers and the SAN storage are inside the box.""Nutanix has several unique capabilities to ensure linear scalability.""One of the most valuable features is that it can be applied at any scale.""The product is easy to manage.""The ease of deployment is very good."

Cons
"The rail system that Pavilion uses to mount up into a standard Dell or APC cabinet extends further back than normal rails, and they cover up the zero PDU slot. So, I don't like the rail system that comes with the device. That is my biggest complaint.""In our current configuration, we can only run the line controllers in high availability, active-standby mode, whereas we would like to see active-active implemented.""I would like to see the management layer improved."

"The security and reporting could be improved."

More Fungible Storage Cluster Cons »

"In the licensing, it needs to be clear about features because it is not clear whether Flow is integrated or not.""The solution doesn't support older systems, which can be a problem for some organizations who wish to implement it. It became a problem for us due to the fact that some of our systems are older.""Could have better visibility with the main OEM backup integrators.""Pricing and varieties of options could be better.""There is a need is to be able to consume Nutanix storage from outside the cluster for other, non-Nutanix workloads.""Some clients find the solution's cost to be too high.""I'm not very technical, so I don't know if there are any features that are really lacking. Our customers seem pleased with it, and I haven't heard of any downsides.""The pricing of the solution is too high. It needs to be adjusted or lowered to be more competitive."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"This is hardware. They have a singular array that you can populate with your own disk, or you can buy the disks through them. For controllers, you pay for the components inside of the SAN, but there is only one chassis that they work with.""The licensing fees are very reasonable."

"AHV is free! This is a great feature that should be taken advantage of.""The licensing costs are a bit expensive but when you compare the features, it's reasonable.""This product is less expensive than some of the competing HCI solutions.""Its price is fine. I can't really complain about that.""My advice is to get the ultimate license, as it is worth it.""The setup cost, pricing, and licensing are very competitive and TCO is very low compared to three-tier solutions.""Nutanix is cheaper than Cisco HyperFlex, although it depends on the configuration because Nutanix can also be expensive.""The pricing is fair for the package."
