Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The best thing is that as the developers work on separate tasks, all of the code goes there and the other team members don't have to wait on each other to finish.""Their CI/CD engine is very mature. It's very comprehensive and flexible, and compared to other projects, I believe that GitLab is number one right now from that perspective.""Of all available products, it was the easiest to use and easy to install.""The dashboard and interface make it easy to use.""The user interface is really good so that helps with huge teams who need to collaborate.""Everything is easy to configure and easy to work with.""I like GitLab from the CI/CD perspective. It is much easier to set up CI/CD and then integrate with other tools.""CI/CD and GitLab scanning are the most valuable features."

"This tool is really fast and the information that they provide on vulnerabilities is pretty good.""The dashboard is really cool, and the features are really good. It tells you about the software version you're using in your web application. It gives you the entire technology stack, and that really helps. Both web and desktop apps are good in terms of application scanning. It has a lot of security checks that are easily customizable as per your requirements. It also has good customer support.""Invicti's best feature is the ability to identify vulnerabilities and manually verify them.""The best features of Invicti are its ability to confirm access vulnerabilities, SSL injection vulnerabilities, and its connectors to other security tools.""I am impressed by the whole technology that they are using in this solution. It is really fast. When using netscan, the confirmation that it gives on the vulnerabilities is pretty cool. It is really easy to configure a scan in Netsparker Web Application Security Scanner. It is also really easy to deploy.""Scan, proxify the application, and then detailed report along with evidence and remediations to problems.""The solution generates reports automatically and quickly.""The scanner is light on the network and does not impact the network when scans are running."

Cons
"Atlassian offers more products than GitLab. GitLab offers source control management, version control and collaboration between developers. Atlassian offers features on top of this as well as more integration points for developers.""It is a little complex to set up the pipelines within the solution.""Merge conflicts and repository maintenance could improve. If there is someone new to the system they would not know if there is a conflict.""The pricing model of GitLab is an issue for me.""When deploying the solution on cloud and the CI/CD pipeline, we have to define the steps and it becomes confusing.""The solution could be faster.""GitLab could improve the patch repository. It does not have support for Conan patch version regions. Additionally, better support for Kubernetes deployment is needed as part of the package.""The user interface could be more user-friendly. We do most of our operations through the website interface but it could be better."

More GitLab Cons →

"The proxy review, the use report views, the current use tool and the subset requests need some improvement. It was hard to understand how to use them.""The license could be better. It would help if they could allow us to scan multiple URLs on the same license. It's a major hindrance that we are facing while scanning applications, and we have to be sure that the URLs are the same and not different so that we do not end up consuming another license for it. Netsparker is one of the costliest products in the market. The licensing is tied to the URL, and it's restricted. If you have a URL that you scanned once, like a website, you cannot retry that same license. If you are scanning the same website but in a different domain or different URL, you might end up paying for a second license. It would also be better if they provided proper support for multi-factor authentications. In the next release, I would like them to include good multi-factor authentication support.""The custom attack preparation screen might be improved.""The solution's false positive analysis and vulnerability analysis libraries could be improved.""They don't really provide the proof of concept up to the level that we need in our organization. We are a consultancy firm, and we provide consultancy for the implementation and deployment solutions to our customers. When you run the scans and the scan is completed, it only shows the proof of exploit, which really doesn't work because the tool is running the scan and exploiting on the read-only form. You don't really know whether it is actually giving the proof of exploit. We cannot prove it manually to a customer that the exploit is genuine. It is really hard to perform it manually and prove it to the concerned development, remediation, and security teams. It is currently missing the static application security part of the application security, especially web application security. It would be really cool if they can integrate a SAS tool with their dynamic one.""Reporting should be improved. The reporting options should be made better for end-users. Currently, it is possible, but it's not the best. Being able to choose what I want to see in my reports rather than being given prefixed information would make my life easier. I had to depend on the API for getting the content that I wanted. If they could fix the reporting feature to make it more comprehensive and user-friendly, it would help a lot of end-users. Everything else was good about this product.""The licensing model should be improved to be more cost-effective. There are URL restrictions that consume our license. Compared to other DAST solutions and task tools like WebInspect and Burp Enterprise, Invicti is very expensive. The solution’s scanning time is also very long compared to other DAST tools. It might be due to proof-based scanning.""The support's response time could be faster since we are in different time zones."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I think that we pay approximately $100 USD per month."
  • "The price is okay."
  • "It seems reasonable. Our IT team manages the licenses."
  • "Its price is fine. It is on the cheaper side and not expensive. You have to pay additionally for GitLab CI/CD minutes. Initially, we used the free version. When we ran out of GitLab minutes, we migrated to the paid version."
  • "It is very expensive. We can't bear it now, and we have to find another solution. We have a yearly subscription in which we can increase the number of licenses, but we have to pay at the end of the year."
  • "I don't mind the price because I use the free version."
  • "We are using its free version, and we are evaluating its Premium version. Its Ultimate version is very expensive."
  • "The price of GitLab could be better, it is expensive."

  • "It is competitive in the security market."
  • "OWASP Zap is free and it has live updates, so that's a big plus."
  • "We never had any issues with the licensing; the price was within our assigned limits."
  • "I think that price it too high, like other Security applications such as Acunetix, WebInspect, and so on."
  • "The price should be 20% lower"
  • "Netsparker is one of the costliest products in the market. It would help if they could allow us to scan multiple URLs on the same license."
  • "We are using an NFR license and I do not know the exact price of the NFR license. I think 20 FQDN for three years would cost around 35,000 US Dollars."
  • "Invicti is best suited for large enterprises. I don't think small and medium-sized businesses can afford it. Maintenance costs aren't that great."
