Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"IBM AppScan has made our work easy, as we can do four to five scans of websites at a time, which saves time when it comes to vulnerability.""It was easy to set up.""The solution offers services in a few specific development languages.""It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution...The initial setup or installation of HCL AppScan is easy.""The product has valuable features for static and dynamic testing.""The solution is easy to install. I would rate the product's setup between six to seven out of ten. The deployment time depends on the applications that need to be scanned. We have a development and operations team to take care of the product's maintenance.""It comes with all of the templates that we need. For example, we are a company that is regulated by PCI. In order to be PCI compliant, we have a lot of checks and procedures to which we have to comply.""It has certainly helped us find vulnerabilities in our software, so this is priceless in the end."

"This solution provides for API testing, functional UI testing, performance testing, and service virtualization.""Reporting is pretty good. Its interface is also good. I'm overall pretty happy with the functionality and use of IBM Rational Test Workbench."

Cons
"The penetration testing feature should be included.""I would love to see more containers. Many of the tools are great, they require an amount of configuration, setup and infrastructure. If most the applications were in a container, I think everything would be a little bit faster, because all our clients are now using containers.""They have to improve support.""They should have a better UI for dashboards.""Many silly false positives are produced.""The solution often has a high number of false positives. It's an aspect they really need to improve upon.""The solution needs to improve in some areas. The tool needs to add more languages. It also needs to improve its speed.""There is not a central management for static and dynamic."

"There are a number of things that they can do to simplify the tools, but the most important thing that they need to do is simplify the installation.""It should have more interfaces. In terms of interfaces or protocols, what you can do with Rational is far limited as compared to other products out there. What it does, it does great, but it only gives you limited types of protocols. It supports between 8 to 15 types of protocols, whereas other test tools give you 20 to 30 types of protocols with which you can do testing and convert to script. It records Javascript-based scripts, and you got to know a little bit of Java to basically be able to edit them, but the level of editing you got to do is very low. I like that, but the ability to edit the script is not as good as Parasoft or LoadRunner, which have C-Script."
