We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"FortiGate firewalls are easy to manage through a user-friendly web interface. They also have advanced features like DDoS and DLP. However, I wouldn't recommend enabling all of these features on one device because it can cause performance issues.""The most valuable feature is the policy routing and application control.""The Fortinet FortiGate local partners were good. I did not have direct contact with Fortinet support.""It's super reliable. I don't think I've ever had a reliability issue with it.""From the firewall perspective, the rules and policies are very sufficient and easy to use.""FortiGate firewalls are user-friendly, and I like the security profiling features.""The pricing is excellent. It's much less expensive than Cisco.""The notable features that I have found most valuable are that it includes the antivirus, and also IPS, and even SD-WAN."

"We installed Hillstone T-Series after a ransomware attack. The dashboard and user interface are very good.""It has been stable so far.""The only firewall able to monitor traffic from a CCTV network. Can detect unauthorized devices plugged into the network, which standard firewalls can't do."

"The customization of firewall rules provides great value to our customers as it allows them to lock things up in the way that they desire. When it is used for internal access, with a VPN in place for remote workers, the firewalling services provided by Azure, such as the default services that can be turned on, are applied. However, the use of a software-based virtual firewall gives us greater flexibility in introducing security controls for customers who are publishing applications that are publicly accessible from the public cloud. This virtual firewall provides an additional layer of security and more extensive security control options to ensure the protection of our customers' valuable information and assets.""The solution has no additional charges and no restrictions on the number of users.""The product helps improve our security.""One of the standout features of SonicWall is its simplicity in creating and managing rules.""The security of this system is fantastic, including the IPS and IDS.""We purchased the AGSS Bundle (Advanced Gateway Security Suite) for the security services, such as antivirus, intrusion prevention system, and anti-spyware botnet GUI.""SonicWall NSV is easy to use, and you can use it to manage the logs easily."

Cons
"They are doing good, but they can improve the distributor assignment. The availability of the product and the timeline of delivery are the main things. The distribution should be swift, and the distributor should not reach out to end customers directly. They should work as a distributor. There should also be one more local distributor. Currently, there is only one distributor in Pakistan, and the rest of them are in UAE. It is difficult to work with only one distributor. Sometimes, you don't get along with the same distributor, and that's why they should have one more distributor. Their licensing should also be improved. The activation or renewal of the product should be done from the date of renewal, not from the date on which the license expired.""The setup is pretty complex and not easy to implement.""They should offer special pricing to premium partners and customers.""Some of the web policy reports could be improved.""Technical support could be better. You don't always get the level of help you need right away.""I would like reporting to be improved and should offer a lot more tools to monitor the products.""One issue that I have had is that sometimes I need to monitor the traffic, so I need to filter it according to the user and which user is using it the most. I experience a bottleneck most of the time, particularly at the peak time when the number of contracts and users are at maximum.""Due to its higher cost, Fortinet FortiGate can lead to increased operational expenses."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"They have a very good technical support team, but I think there are some communication issues due to language differences.""Another loophole with Hillstone T-Series is that when we connect through WiFi and turn our hot spot on, all who connect through the hotspot get all the functions, and the security does not work.""Licensing is not cheap."

More Hillstone T-Series Cons →

"SonicWall NSV's SSL VPN could increase its number of users to 100-plus users.""It has been brought to our attention by a few customers that they are dissatisfied with the fact that our virtualized service is only offered as a subscription option on the cloud. However, it is worth noting that many other similar services are also offered through a subscription model on the cloud and not through perpetual licensing. It is unclear why these customers would have an issue with this subscription service when so many others are utilizing similar methods.""An area that could be improved is the export and import settings functionality.""SonicWall NSV's initial setup is complicated and requires good knowledge.""We face some challenges when we upgrade the solution.""I would like to see the reporting opened up and have several more opportunities for automatic reports.""There are limitations to bandwidth management."

Pricing and Cost Advice

    Overview

Fortinet FortiGate enhances network security, prevents unauthorized access, and offers robust firewall protection. Valued features include advanced threat protection, reliable performance, and a user-friendly interface. It improves efficiency, streamlines processes, and boosts collaboration, providing valuable insights for informed decision-making and growth.

Hillstone’s T-Series intelligent Next-Generation Firewall (iNGFW) uses three key technologies to detect advanced attacks and provide continuous threat defense for today’s networks. First, it uses statistical clustering to detect unknown malware, leveraging the patented Hillstone Advanced Threat Detection engine (ATD). Second, it uses behavioral analytics to detect anomalous network behavior, which is based on the Hillstone Abnormal Behavior Detection engine (ABD). Finally, it leverages the Hillstone threat correlation analysis engine to correlate threat events detected by disparate engines – including ATD, ABD, Sandbox and other traditional signature-based threat detection technologies – along with context information to identify advanced threats.
