Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

"The way that they handle the DR is very good because when there is a failover, it is seamless to the users.""The features that I have found most valuable are their retention logs. The other thing I have found most valuable is the way they handle the BHEA. Basically the DNS and everything is managed by itself. It is seamless to the users.""Feature-wise, it has a lot of features. The most valuable features include de-duplication, encryption, version controlling, support, and tamper-proof data."

"Reliable erasure coding.""Saves a lot of time in generating and managing documents.""Very good at object retrieval.""Good interface and a good approach to development and testing environments.""MinIO can work with attributes and folders, and it has the ability to use a stream approach for files. I have moments that should work exclusively. It also has some management features you can use, like exclusive locks that you can perform on one record or a collection.""The ability to spawn a MinIO Tenant on demand and shut it down right after is most valuable.""The features that I have found most valuable with MinIO is its coding bit rot protection and how it distributes the workload over all the servers.""The initial setup was very easy - one click, and it was installed."

More MinIO Pros »

"They should improve the user interface. It's a little bit complex. It does not have a self-learning method. You need to know how to use it before you touch the system. The user interface is not self-explanatory.""In terms of the customer support, I can say it's a mixed reaction depending on the country.""What is lacking in this solution is a simple process to migrate from existing systems."

More Hitachi Content Platform Cons »

"The monitoring capability is really bad and needs to be improved.""Lacks documentation for non-Kubernetes users.""Documentation could be improved.""There should be the ability to expand the size after it has already been deployed. Currently, you cannot do that. It doesn't support an increase in size. Each time we spawn a new MinIO, we need to track the particular MinIO instance or tenant that has the file. Therefore, we had to create a multi-tenant solution that tracks the MinIO that has our artifacts. It isn't in one single instance. It should have better multi-tenancy support.""The Distributed User Interface (DUI) needs some work. It's hard to view a large set of data on the DUI. It's an issue with the DUI's performance.""The solution lacks documentation.""Limited storage provided in the free version.""The product's security is open by default, without any SSL."

Hitachi Content Platform is an object storage solution that enables IT organizations and cloud service providers to store, share, sync, protect, preserve, analyze and retrieve file data from a single system. It is more efficient, easier to use, and capable of handling much more data than traditional file storage solutions. HCP automates day-to-day IT operations like data protection and readily evolves to changes in scale, scope, applications, storage, server and cloud technologies over the life of data. In IT environements where data grows quickly or must live for years, decades or even indefinitely, these capabilities are invaluable.

MinIO is a high performance, distributed object storage system. It is software-defined, runs on industry standard hardware and is 100% open source under the Apache V2 license.

MinIO is different in that it was designed from its inception to be the standard in private cloud object storage. Because MinIO is purpose-built to serve only objects, a single-layer architecture achieves all of the necessary functionality without compromise. The result is a cloud-native object server that is simultaneously performant, scalable and lightweight.

While MinIO excels at traditional object storage use cases like secondary storage, disaster recovery and archiving, it is unique at overcoming the private cloud challenges associated with machine learning, analytics and cloud-native application workloads.
