Overview

Hitachi Universal Replicator satisfies the most demanding business continuity and disaster recovery requirements. This software asynchronously replicates data between Hitachi storage systems, over any distance.

Storage Performance
Great customer experience is critical for today's digital businesses. Slow retrieval from origin storage can cause video rebuffers, slow file downloads, slow web page loads, sluggish gaming response, and other issues. Limelight Origin Storage offers automated regional replication that places content close to your audience and retrieves it from the fastest location. The result is performance that is 90-200 percent faster than ordinary cloud storage for CDN applications. Limelight's high-performance Origin Storage and private backbone ensure the fastest storage retrieval and delivery on cache miss, improving user experience and reducing abandon rates.

Availability and Reliability
Businesses are in a constant struggle to avoid costly unplanned outages. Limelight Origin Storage Services provide automated replication and intelligent retrieval that deliver high-availability with no single point of failure. Limelight Origin Storage can serve as primary origin storage or backup origin storage for another CDN, providing redundancy and disaster recovery during the failure of another storage system.

Flexibility and Cost Efficiency
Limelight Origin Storage has the flexibility to support any content delivery workflow, including multi-CDN content delivery. Easy to configure policies let you automate content replication in locations close to your customers. Multiple storage classes are available to provide cost-effective storage of both frequently and infrequently accessed content, so you can easily solve all of your content delivery challenges.

Content Ingest and Migration
Ingesting content into storage or migrating it from a legacy storage system can be a slow and laborious process that is subject to error. Limelight Intelligent Ingest is an automated way to migrate your content to Limelight Origin Storage. When content that is not already in cache is requested, it is accessed from legacy origin storage, delivered to the user, and also added to Limelight Origin Storage system without any manual intervention. Manifest Upload mode is also available to automatically upload content based on a manifest you provide. Content can also be uploaded using multiple manual upload methods including a web-based GUI, Limelight’s API which supports multi-part uploads, Aspera, and legacy protocols including FTP, SCP, SFTP, RSYNC, and FTP-SSL. Content can be uploaded to any local Limelight storage location and automatically distributed over Limelight’s private fiber network to additional storage locations based on the policies you chose.
