Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"We have been able to consolidate storage into Pavilion. Pavilions are our only SANs because it is a bring your own disk solution. When new drives come out, we are able to take out half of the drives in the system, put in new drives, move our VMs over to the new drives, take the other drives out, and populate those with new drives. Then, we are suddenly twice as dense as we were before. NVMe flash is only going to get denser and cheaper so we can make use of that every couple of years by just throwing newer disks into it at a fraction of the cost of a new SAN.""The high performance is very valuable, as well as the enterprise reliability features.""There's lots of flexibility in how we use the resources while also maintaining a small footprint."

"This is one of the most reliable and dependable products on the market.""I am happy about the storage system and availability.""The high performance of flash storage is especially valuable to us.""It is the most stable high-end solution in this area.""The most valuable feature is that you can use it with all deployment models.""This is one of the most stable, high-end solutions in this area.""The feature I like best is the stability of the hardware.""Its resilience is the most valuable."

"The most valuable feature is data mirroring.""The solution runs pretty fast.""InfoSight - analytics sight that collects data for all Nimble arrays deployed""The performance and the processor are good.""In the 20 days that we have been using this solution, it has been stable.""The replay and IOPS work well.""This product is very easy to set up.""Some of the beneficial features I have found are the Block-level backups, the interface is easy to use, backups work well and the portal is functional."

Cons
"The rail system that Pavilion uses to mount up into a standard Dell or APC cabinet extends further back than normal rails, and they cover up the zero PDU slot. So, I don't like the rail system that comes with the device. That is my biggest complaint.""In our current configuration, we can only run the line controllers in high availability, active-standby mode, whereas we would like to see active-active implemented.""I would like to see the management layer improved."

"In the next version I would like to see additional features like artificial intelligence and an increase in the amount of data it can store.""In the next version I would like to see more intelligence.""In terms of new features, I would be interested to see deduplication added in their next release.""The installation procedure it a bit difficult, because it is a high-end solution. With this type of product, the original company is interested in doing the setup for customers in the area, but because of sanctions we were not able to get support in our area. We faced many issued trying to learn to run this product.""The user interface should be made simpler because it is difficult to manage.""The interface should be simplified and made easier to use.""They should look at the cost because there are other vendors who offer the same cost with more features.""Hitachi should launch some small machines in Brazil. The smallest machine here in Brazil is VSP 350, which can be quite big for some of the customers. In China, Hitachi has small models of this equipment, but those models are not available in our region. Its pricing is a big issue for us. We are resellers, and we face some competition from other vendors. Hitachi doesn't always have a good position in terms of the price. Its user interface is also not as good as some of the other competitors, and it can be improved."

More Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform F Series Cons »

"Scalability, in terms of being able to scale out, is not easy and should be improved.""The solution requires a higher availability.""We have had some stability issues with one array which has happened twice during subsequent software updates but is due to a bad Postgres database.""I would like to see an added feature to auto-fix, or a dynamic alerting system on storage.""The most difficult part about Nimble was the fact that it didn't have a standard length.""The dashboard can be improved.""The quality of technical support depends on which member of the support team you speak with.""We want to start storing data in the cloud really soon and we are looking at options."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"This is hardware. They have a singular array that you can populate with your own disk, or you can buy the disks through them. For controllers, you pay for the components inside of the SAN, but there is only one chassis that they work with.""The licensing fees are very reasonable."

More Pavilion HyperParallel Flash Array Pricing and Cost Advice »

"I would like to see better pricing and more discounts.""Pricing could be better, because the cost is very high.""This solution is cheaper than Dell EMC VMAX. When you are looking for a high-end solution, price matters, but availability and stability are more important than the price.""This is an expensive solution.""When you are looking for high-end solutions such as this, price is less important than stability and availability.""It is expensive as compared to other vendors, but its price is good if you are looking for stability, reliability, performance, and security."

More Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform F Series Pricing and Cost Advice »

"The pricing is better than some of the competitors, such as Dell EMC.""Nimble Storage is too expensive for our enterprise customers.""I would classify it as an expensive product.""HPE Nimble Storage didn't require a license at the time.""The price is negotiable and when we first received the quote it was expensive, but after dealing with them and receiving a discount, the price is reasonable.""The solution is a little pricey compared to others on the market.""I think HPE Nimble Storage is less expensive than Primera and is the best solution for Venezuela.""We pay a one-time fee for terabyte licenses, and the support is paid yearly."
