Quotes From Members Comparing HPE 3PAR Flash Storage vs Nimble Storage
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
I am a system integrator, so we sell a lot of 3PAR storage to our customers. Our business has increased compared to previous daysThe overall quality of the product is fantastic. Advanced Optimization is one of the best features I never thought I needed until I actually used it and saw it in actionFrom my perspective, it's really easy for me to be able to get in and do any troubleshooting with it and it's very consistentIt is easy to scale, easy to manage, and easy to configureIt is a really stable product. We have not had any major issues at the moment

Their tech support is very professional, know their products, know what they do, and they are very informative in terms of keeping the customer updatedAny updates are just part of your subscription, so you don't have to buy add-ons for new features. You're continually adding value to itPerformance, reliability, InfoSight, the ability to upgrade the O/S on the SAN without taking it down, and costWe have found the advantage of it is the easy, rapid setup, but also that it is very easy to manageInfoSight, for sure, has been the best feature so far

Cons
Our support in the US has been phenomenal, no issues at all. But the European support was poor initiallyWould like to see some management functions through a web interface. The management console could use some work. All the functionality is there, of course, but it can be hard to find some features or do certain tasksI would like to see more virtualization: storage virtualization, data virtualization would be very niceSometimes control is rebooting and nobody knows why, so there are issues

The amount of firmware updates released seem excessiveMore reporting is probably the only thing that is really lacking. It would be helpful to go to the business and say, "This is how we've evolved with our solution, and this is why we need more." Being able to put forward a business case with data to back it up, essentiallyI’d like to see in-line deduplication extended to Nimble non-flash (called “Hybrid”) arrays, even if it’s only the C500 and higher controllers that support itI would like to see integration with OneView, at least for reporting or some sort of monitoringWeb GUI should be HTML5

Pricing and Cost Advice
It's very reliable and it was cost competitive with other arrays at the time that we purchased itTo be more competitive, as customer, we need a more aggressive price that includes all the licenses availableNowadays, from a storage point of view, there are so many vendors in the market. So cost is one of the factors that pushed us to go with HPE 3PAR. Cost-wise they're pretty competitiveAs a school, we always have low budgets. We are a nonprofit organization. We do not have too much budget, so we care about prices, discounts, and especially about the product quality. The last 16 years, we have been an HPE customer. We are very much happy with HPE productsThe main issue with 3PAR right now is its cost problem. Right now, there are some other storage cabinets that can do what 3PAR can do. Now, they can do it as well with a more revised budget

From a price/performance perspective, Nimble simply can’t be beat. From a TCO perspective, the stability alone pays for itselfCompetitive. No licensing. Since everything is includedIt is expensive, but it is worth the “uptime”It is cost-effective, which is important for a service provider, because you're competing with hyper-scale providers who do things at extremely large scale, who tend to kill you on price if you're not careful
