382,196 professionals have used our research since 2012.
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:
The most valuable feature was the backup - it was easy to back up. It was also very easy to administrate and manage the system; much easier and faster. Finally, it was easy to extend the disk capacities.
The integration between the storage and the server applications is the most valuable feature of this solution. It cuts down on the necessity to buy a secondary storage system.. It saves money in the long-run.
The most valuable feature of Cisco HyperFlex HX is that it is self-contained.
Cisco HyperFlex HX has improved the way our organization functions in the way that the time to deliver a VM takes me five minutes. In comparison, my cloud team's response is a couple of days based on all their overhead policies, procedures, and ticket requests. This is substantial.
The most valuable features of this solution are the connectivity, consistency, and that we now have fewer vulnerabilities on the network.
The most valuable features of this solution are scalability, performance, and reliability. It scales well inside of a large data center.
The most valuable feature for our company is that it works internally. We have a lot of internal projects for optimization.
The most valuable feature is that it is something small that can be more easily deployed than a full data center set of servers.
The solution has many good features.
The most valuable features of this solution are fast deployment, security, and it is easy to upgrade.
The most valuable feature is the in-built backup system. The backup speed is also excellent.
Hyper-convergence is the most valuable aspect of the solution. We can avoid downtime when there's maintenance or updates needed. Also, we have homogenous hardware, so we have a lot of trust in the solution's reliability.
What I really like about this program, is that it needs little space and it works really fast, so it saves us time.
The HPE Hyper Converged solution is used in a hybrid cloud configuration. We assess the disk space and partition additional capacity.
I've found the data protection features the most valuable.
If you were comparing this solution to VMware, it has more features, and it's very fast on the recovery.
The configuration is easy, and it's flexible.
The cloud features in-site offering, which I found to be very interesting.
We are suggesting Nutanix to the management because of scalability and time efficiency.
The management interface of this solution is great.
The most valuable features are its ease of use and its good performance.
I definitely find the reduced power consumption very valuable.
It consolidates our servers, and improves our electricity consumption and cooling as well.
Flexibility. We're able to mix performance nodes with storage nodes easily. Unlike other vendors where, if we start a hyperconverged solution with them, we have to stick to a specific model, to a specific series with specific capabilities, with Nutanix it's very easy to mix and match the best solution, especially for a dynamic infrastructure like ours.
I would have liked it to be able to back up the system to a cloud, to be able to work from any other place
We would like to have the ability to not have to reboot while doing updates. Being able to work through updates with as minimal amount of impact to users.
The initial setup of the Cisco HyperFlex HX platform was medium-level difficult. It's a little bit different from traditional servers. It takes getting used to the learning curve.
Cisco's technical support originally was outstanding, but it has declined over the last 12 months. I've heard they're trying to do better, but I haven't been overly impressed with their support recently for HyperFlex.
The additional feature I would like to see included in the next release of this solution is more security. We want to add more data servers to all the hosts all over the world. We have 140 hosts that connect to one data center in Manila.
The scalability could use improvement.
The deployment could be made a little bit easier, as we still seem to struggle with it a little bit for a day or so to get it running.
We would like to see better integration in the next release of this solution.
I think that OneView should be replaced by something else for the management.
Providing local technical support and improving the price are areas this service needs to consider improving.
The solution can be improved on the management side. More management features should be added to future releases.
The solution would be better served if it integrated with other solutions better.
The solution is not very stable.
Some improvement is required in the availability of the data and performance. The solution is too expensive for our customers. The pricing should be lower.
The price can be improved. We would like to see support for some open source virtualization technology like for example KVM.
One problem I've had is that I was trying to do a move and it was not working. I was given an error and a message asking me to shut down the machine first and then move it to another host.
In terms of the IT different categories, I would like for the governing sections to be able to use it in the IT department. If they can have something like a one view management portal or software similar to VMware that would be an added value.
There could be better support for high power ESX and other cross platform applications.
The storage and back-up facilities could be improved. We need day-to-day encrypting of the database.
I would have liked it if Nutanix were a hardware as well as a software platform.
The product could be improved with more security. The product needs a bit more experience in the market. I think you don't have the possibility to add other hardware. It could be improved with the ability to add and extend.
One thing I've noticed is that, when you do a shift from VMware to Nutanix, it opens the setup of the VM that's currently running. If people from another site double click on it, it opens the VM instead of the setup of the unit. So I would suggest that this could perhaps be switched. That is so far the only change I would like. I would like it if they could fix the instance where you double click on a VM and it opens the VM instead of the setup. That's the only thing that's a major bother to me.
The GUI for this solution needs improvement.
As of now, Acropolis and VMware cannot talk to each other. Until we have some kind of interface, it would be much better for Nutanix if they built an interface which can talk. Otherwise, if I have a VMware stack and I already have a Nutanix stack, I create containers, I create clusters on VMware, I create clusters on Nutanix. All of these clusters cannot talk to each other. Then it has to be then subverted as a parallel execution. What happens then is that I have to work in two different environments within my data center. Practically, they are two different data centers but physically and logically, they are one. If they cannot talk to each other that creates a lot of issues. That is something which Nutanix has to develop because for Nutanix it is very simple. For example, Oracle is using a function called GoldenGate. They have a feature called GoldenGate which allows them to talk to various different environments which must really help.
Pricing and Cost Advice
It's much more expensive than rack servers. It was an issue, but when you compare it to the number of people who were administrative assistants before, it's on the positive ROI side. It's much cheaper.
We currently have a perpetual license, which is kind of unlimited, so we don't have the normal licensing cost, yet.
Our licensing costs are large, but it is combined between all of the Cisco products that we have.
One of the challenges we have with HyperFlex is that they have a subscription fee for the operating system that runs on it, and if I remember correctly, it costs approximately $15,000 USD per month.
It is relatively expensive, but it can easily return value by freeing up other resources.
It's roughly $30,000 per Hyperflex license, so that would be about $60,000 a year.
Our licensing is Hybrid. We have all of our applications for billing and outage management through this.
They are not the cheapest on the market. But there's an old saying I like to quote: "If you know that you are getting what you pay for, it's fine if it's expensive."
There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees.
The solution is expensive - not only the hardware costs but server costs too. And the more you scale, the more expensive it gets.
The solution is too expensive for our customers. The pricing should be lower.
It is an expensive solution, however. If they could adjust the pricing, that would be helpful.
Pricing with Dell EMC is double the price which I paid for HPE. However, in the end, Dell EMC is double in performance. This is not an apple to apple comparison though, as I have a four node from Dell EMC and a three node.
I think it's cheaper than VMware in terms of cost.
Our licensing fee on the total setup up was about R900 000.
Their technical support is really good. They have been very helpful.
The price is good but I think there is still room for improvement on the price.
