We performed a comparison between HPE Proliant DL Servers and Lenovo ThinkSystem Rack Servers based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: While both solutions are reasonably priced, it seems that users favor HPE Proliant DL Servers more than Lenovo ThinkSystem Rack Servers. Although users of HPE are not thrilled with its limited scalability, Lenovo lacks some of the more important features that HPE is able to provide for its users, like a good GUI and a riser, as well as a server with scalable SP1 and SP2 on a single machine.
"This is all I've ever used. These servers are strong, and they have very few failures on them. They are also easy to manage and monitor."
"The solution is highly scalable."
"What I like most about HPE ProLiant DL Servers is that it gives the support and hardware availability that my company requires."
"In regards to the components that you can put into the servers, I feel that HP provides a wider variety of parts in comparison to Dell. For example, there is the ILO which is a network cable that goes into the server and reports back with an abundance of information about the server, even when it is off."
"Our monitoring tool has a database, so we need a server with a fast IO."
"HPE ProLiant DL Servers are easy to use and the GUI is rather simple and intuitive. The Americans know how to make things beautiful. Their Japanese counterpart has outdated GUIs. There is a lot of other services and software that HPE provides for the server. The software can connect all the infrastructure to form a unified management or monitoring system."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO)...Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"We get good performance with HPE ProLiant DL Servers. They are really stable. We run all our applications smoothly. We have no problem at all."
"The solution is very simple to install."
"We appreciate the stability and easy mountings of all the machines. We have some direct connections with IBM, Lenovo, and other companies, and we get close support from them."
"The product is designed to make adding RAM and disk space easier for users."
"It is a scalable product."
"The hardware is good."
"I like everything about this solution. It is a very good server, with excellent availability. The size of the power is adequate and the low heating is beneficial."
"Lenovo ThinkSystem Rack Servers are scalable."
"It's very power-efficient and allows you to access the rack server directly without accessing the operating system on that server."
"The licensing fees are expensive and have room for improvement."
"The servers should include OneView for intelligence provisioning."
"They should build risc processors with high speed."
"They should work with Microsoft to make licensing costs better. That's because the physical servers have processors with all these cores, and Microsoft now licenses Windows virtual server desktops based on the number of cores and the serving servers. So, if you got to build 10 or 20 servers on that desktop, you got to license them all with Microsoft. They should have a partnership with Microsoft to decrease the virtual licensing of servers in partnerships so that when you purchase the servers, you also get licensing for Microsoft on top of them. That's because it gets very expensive to license virtual operating systems to run on physical servers."
"The technical support has room for improvement."
"The technical support could be a little faster."
"If they could put a SAN storage or resend it in the same product, it would be very helpful and more powerful."
"A better option would be same day support, not next business day."
"It should have tools for integration with the cloud. We should be able to transmit data from our on-premises server to the servers in the cloud."
"It is quite an expensive product. Its price can be improved."
"The performance of the solution could be better."
"For the price my company pays for Lenovo ThinkSystem Rack Servers, we can have more from other vendors offering the same functionalities that are present in Lenovo ThinkSystem Rack Servers at a lower price."
"Lenovo ThinkSystem Rack Servers could improve the availability of their solution. The supply chain is severely broken, we've had to wait many months for component parts to a system time after time. The availability of discs and raid controllers has been difficult lately."
"There are other solutions that are less expensive."
"From our side, our budgets are really not there. The availability of cash is a little bit limited. We buy as much as we can, If it was less expensive, we could buy more."
"Improvements could be made in the network cards, particularly by offering options for higher-speed cards beyond the current 10 GB."
