We performed a comparison between HPE SimpliVity and HPE StoreVirtual based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Dell Technologies, Nutanix, VMware and others in HCI."The management interface on the software is very simple. It is insanely simple compared to most SANs. The interface is also powerful when used to complete tasks that an IT administrator needs to complete."
"The installation of StarWind Virtual SAN was pretty easy, and the configuration was done in no time."
"StarWind vSAN is easy to deploy and administer."
"I've been really impressed with it so far. I think it's pretty great, actually. It does exactly what we need it to do, and it does it well, so I would recommend it. Plus, the support has been very good."
"StarWind Virtual SAN is a very easy-to-use solution that can be quickly and easily deployed and configured without intimate and specific knowledge in the virtualization sphere."
"Active-active work mode leads to true redundancy of storage and allows us to distribute the load between multiple nodes."
"A great feature is that I basically set it and forget it, as everything is automatic."
"The StarWind Virtual SAN management console is intuitive and easy to use."
"The built-in backup and quick restore are good features."
"What I like about the solution, is that SimpliVity is easy to deploy and maintain. It's really performing very well. The ratio of price to performance is really good."
"The scalability is its most valuable feature. It's also able to do stretch clustering."
"It allows you to take advantage of the unique platform of computing, cloud management, storage, and integrated networks, as well as software-defined data management, which is easy to use. "
"The initial setup was very easy as I had the SimpliVity engineers work with our managed services."
"The solution is scalable."
"Among the valuable features are that it's a complete solution, it's easy to use, and there is not a lot of management time involved in operating the solution."
"The feature that I like the most is the backup feature embedded inside the HPE SimpliVity. When we have any activity, within five minutes, we have a backup. It also has PDR for performing disaster recovery."
"The solution is very stable."
"The initial setup is straightforward, not a complex procedure."
"he interface and the installation makes it easy as it's all in one piece of hardware and it doesn't need to be connected to anything else."
"It's very stable and it's easy to use."
"StoreVirtual is that it is our software-defined solution and it's everywhere."
"I guess on the top of the list is certainly ease of use."
"A very flexible solution."
"A company can scale it easily."
"In the next release, they could make some graphs of the real-time loading, speed of storage, and interfaces. Of course, these can be viewed in other places. But, in the event of a malfunction or troubleshooting, this would be convenient."
"StarWind offers the Enterprise-level high availability (HA), deployed and easily configured .maintain and update and with little to no fuss, even the free version is incredibly capable whilst it brings a the cost of a Highly Available HCI solution down to a very cost effective point" Having used Starwind Virtual SAN for many years both for clients and for internal systems it has always done exactly what it set out to do, provide a cost effect way to run a HCI storage platform for almost any hypervisor, but it is most effective with Hyper-V, simple, easy to use, -.software monitoring should be web based to be reachable from any workstation in VLAN."
"There is no Italian-language version of the software available."
"Currently, the StarWind management console is a bit clunky to navigate and isn't the most user-intuitive interface."
"I would like to see more advanced free versions."
"We don't really have any issues with this product."
"Initially, when we first started, the sync was horrible."
"If there was a way to automatically put disks in maintenance mode when shutting the host down and exit maintenance mode automatically, that would simplify things."
"I have some worries about the support after the acquisition. The support was better before HPE acquired SimpliVity."
"The initial setup was complex. It took a few months to integrate and adapt to the new platform."
"Needs to improve the cloud integration, such as Azure and AWS."
"We definitely want to see more of the CLI commands come up to the GUI, and it is a legitimate question, if we are going to be happy with the integration in the vsphere web client, which is awfully slow."
"It could integrate better with other platforms. It's a proprietary solution of HPE, so you are stuck. Before I was running SimpliVity as an independent solution. it wasn't a card and software, so you could put in whatever server, IBM, Dell, etc."
"When we make some upgrades to the platform, it does take time to stabilize the structure again."
"Once I am onto the SimpliVity environment, I always have to go with HP because I am somewhat blocked, like Apple. Secondly, if I want to increase only storage, I need to buy an entire computing node for that, an entire HCI node."
"We had some hardware compatibility issues with the earlier versions of HPE SimpliVity. We upgraded to the latest version a few months ago, and since then, there is no hardware failure, and it is better. They don't provide a portal to create a ticket directly for the HPE SimpliVity. We have a web portal to create a ticket when we have an issue, but for HPE SimpliVity, we need to call the local vendor for support. If they are not able to resolve the issue, they contact the global support, which takes more time. Technology is moving very fast, and everybody nowadays is focusing on the cloud base. In the future, they should integrate it with the cloud base for the backup."
"I would like to have this solution easily integrate with VMware."
"One of the areas that need improvement is the consolidated management platform, to manage all of the nodes from one place and the licensing around that."
"It would be nice if there were more parts available in Brazil and HPE could swap out faulty equipment quicker."
"The GUI is a bit old-fashioned. It should be updated."
"It is a costly solution."
"The management aspect of the solution needs to be improved in order to make the product stronger."
"it would nice to have deduplication or compression, things that you have in some of the higher end products."
"The penalty for the availability is performance. So, you have to balance or choose between the availability and the performance."
