We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
The managing and monitoring are the solution's most valuable features. They are something I find quite helpful in my work. The interface is in continuous development and improves version by version. This solution has improved our organization through the provision of efficient resource utilization and capacity planning.

The most valuable feature is application monitoring. The most valuable feature is the Access Rights Manager. The solution is great for monitoring. If something is going wrong, we can immediately find the root cause. This product can monitor application environments no matter where they reside and provides capabilities for deep insight into infrastructure.Solarwinds has an open database that allows you to do serious integrations. It doesn't matter which service desk you have, you can implement and integrate it with SolarWinds.I'd rate technical support at eight out of ten. They are helpful and fast. The more valuable feature of this solution is the Exchange feature. One of the most valuable features are the reports. They're pretty good. Also, the ease of installation and customization for the client is another feature that we value. SolarWinds has a lot of features but these are the ones I like the most. We also like that the KPIs have the ability to be preset.

Cons
If the solution could provide better integration to make it easier to manage everything on different servers, that would be helpful. Whatever servers a company has, be it IBM, Dell, etc., if the System Management could be a platform that links all of them together, it would make management across different server types easier. Our customers would like to see the price lowered. The quality of service and support for this solution needs to be improved.

I would like to see support for non-Windows or non-Microsoft domains, especially Apache and other non-Windows servers.Support for the IBM Mainframe is needed. The templates could use improvement. Currently, they are quite complex. They should have drag-and-drop functionality instead. It would make it easier to use. This product has no real downside unless they fail to continue development of its capabilities. When you implement SolarWinds on a larger scale my customers complain about the speed. It would be helpful if the solution could integrate more with the security compliances, like this IDSS, etc. Some custom applications cannot be monitored, and a lot more applications need to be included. They should incorporate more artificial intelligence. There should also be more predictive features.

Pricing and Cost Advice
The support is yearly-based and the license is permanent.

More HPE System Management Pricing and Cost Advice »

I like the pricing for this SolarWinds product.Pricing is inexpensive, starting at 2440 euros. For that, you get the ability to monitor a couple of nodes and one year of maintenance and support. The licenses start from USD 3000.00 and go up to USD 20,000.00 for the year. It's a perpetual license. Nothing is free in SolarWinds, anything that you need is an additional cost. The product might cost you $30,000 USD to buy, but scaling this solution requires the purchase of additional polling engines at $20,000 USD each.
