We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"A great feature is that I basically set it and forget it, as everything is automatic.""The best part is the easy way it operates with a very clear GUI without any unnecessary items.""It is easy to use and can monitor system synchronization and check Storage status. StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN) combines flash and disks of the cluster and forms a virtual shared storage “pool” accessible by all hosts. StarWind cuts down virtualization cost and complexity by eliminating the need for a physical shared storage (SAN). -StarWind offers the Enterprise-level high availability (HA), deployed and easily configured . we get technical support from star wind team when implementation software and after setup if we face any issue.""One of the most valuable features is the way it sets up the virtual SAN, because we don't have to buy a separate appliance for storage. It uses the existing storage on the servers, which is definitely a cost savings for us.""Recovery and maintenance are now less stressful and most importantly, it allows our users to keep working.""It has reduced the amount of switching, network connections, etc., because the converged StarWind Virtual SAN allows us to connect high-speed network interfaces between different boxes instead of having to connect SANs via the network, then connect those two clusters together.""StarWind allows us to move virtual machines from one physical host to another, which greatly reduces the downtime required for maintenance.""The product creates opportunities with hybrid on-premise solutions."

"The product is very reliable. We haven't had any major issues with the product since we bought it.""The solution is stable and everything is taken care of through the Huawei support center. They ensure everything is running smoothly. It's been very good.""The pricing of the solution is excellent. It's one of the main reasons a customer chooses Huawei. It's much, much better than VMware.""The best thing about the solution is that it combines network, storage, and compute functions in one place. Unlike the traditional three-tier setup, you don't need to buy separate devices for each part. This makes it much easier to control and manage everything in one go without switching between different places for different tasks.""The most valuable feature of Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure is the relocating of resources."

"The performance and small footprint of this solution are its most valuable features. I am able to obtain and use more than 90 percent of the physical hardware capacity.""It supports the latest technology of NVMe SSD, which is PCIe-based SSD. It has a very good IOPS performance as compared to vSAN. For the same system, I get 1,000 IOPS with vSAN, and with Sunlight, I am able to get almost 10,000 IOPS. In terms of features, it has almost all the features, such as HA and centralized dashboards. It can be managed centrally, and the visibility of the system is very good. They also have very good technical support and customer or partner training."

Cons
"It would be nice if we could designate pools, or tiers, for storage of different speeds, and then assign rules to new VMs that would automatically place them into the proper pool.""The number of different ways you can set it up can make it a little daunting.""I am expecting to see it more user-friendly in the future.""I would say that the documentation is mostly great, however, some features could be expanded upon a bit.""Geolocation could be better, for example, for site mirroring for DR purposes.""Improvements in documentation and support resources could enhance the user experience.""Proper training sessions should be included with the licensing.""An extended trial period would serve as a way to get clean insights into the technology's adaptability and alignment with their specific needs before committing to long-term integration."

More StarWind Virtual SAN Cons →

"I want the product to be used more efficiently and for our system to connect easily with cloud services like AWS, Oracle, and IBM. We can also improve by adding advanced features like snapshots, replication, and encryption, allowing for more growth. Introducing features such as data duplication, data analytics, and AI-driven insights will improve its deployments.""t would be helpful if the solution was able to collaborate or integrate with other well-known monitoring tools. Right now, you have to work hard to get it configured. It would be a good selling point for them if they could open up their solution to more integrations.""Technical support needs improvement. There's a lot of language barriers.""Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure could improve the security of the solution. However, we are comfortable using it. Additionally, there could be more information provided for the solution and the interface could be more user-friendly.""The solution currently does not have cloud integration."

More Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure Cons →

"Its reporting and dashboards need to be improved. It currently has very basic reporting options. It should also be made easier to deploy on Unix operating systems. It is easy to deploy on Windows and Linux, but it is currently not easy to deploy on Unix.""My recommendation would be to add this technology to Azure, Microsoft Azure so that we can bring it to the market, or deploy it on public clouds such as Microsoft Azure and Google. It is currently only available on Amazon's public cloud."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The setup cost is very low. The pricing is great."
  • "We are happy with the price."
  • "The license is reusable. We can always rebuild it and apply the license. Then, boom, we get new servers, apply the license, and we're back up and running."
  • "The pricing is fine for the work that it does."
  • "When we did all the analysis for StarWind, it was approximately 20 percent less than any of the other solutions that we looked at."
  • "The scalability limitation for us is its licensing. At some point in the fairly near future, we will probably have to upgrade our license so we can store eight terabytes instead of four. We are currently at four terabytes, but we're starting to knock on the door of that capacity."
  • "The pricing is excellent. It will run on anything. You don't have to buy a $100,000 server, with hardware you don't need. You just pay for the license and you're good to go."
  • "The licensing is a bit weird. If you license the standard version of StarWind, it allows you four terabytes. Then, they have a pro version, but with the pro version, the only difference is it doubles the terabytes to eight."

  • "The price of Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure is very good. There is a perpetual license for the solution, there are not any additional costs for the hardware. We have a license in case there is any new functionality that is required."
  • "I rate Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure's pricing a six out of ten."
  • More Huawei FusionCube Hyper-Converged Infrastructure Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "There is an operating cost for the VDIs, which is an additional cost. However, the licensing fee is half that of VMware or Nutanix."
