Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The stability is very good. I've done destructive testing on it and never had any type of storage outages from it.""I like its speed. It has all the features that I need.""It reduces space and the polar consumption. It also accelerates the application.""The first year, we started out with one or five terabytes and it took what was 20 terabytes of storage down to less than one terabyte.""The most valuable feature of the Pure Storage Flash Array is the blazing fast monitoring.""It has been very stable. I have not seen or heard of downtime storage issues after moving over to it.""The solution is very reliable.""The most valuable feature is its upgradeability."

"The support is excellent.""The solution is easy to use.""The most valuable feature is the availability.""It is easy to use, deploy, communicate and manage this solution.""The solution is easy to scale as needed.""The most valuable feature of Huawei OceanStor is the hybrid applications.""Great value for money.""Generally stable with good technical support."

More Huawei OceanStor Pros →

"This is an all-flash storage array. It is the best solution for large batch processing. There are some customer databases that have tens of millions of records in one large database. That's where VIOLIN performs the best. VIOLIN stands out for million of IOPS with ultra-low latency. VIOLIN can provide about two million IOPS in a 3U unit. We have a latency of less than one millisecond."

Cons
"I would like a feature to integrate with external or cloud solutions. For example, if I want to use this storage for a backup from the cloud, I want to have integration with the cloud vendors, such as Microsoft, Oracles, or Amazon. It could be available as an API to allow seamless integration. Additionally, the solution could improve by having native integration with a cloud provider, such as VMware or Microsoft, this would reduce the need to use third-party solutions to complete the task.""I would like to see data tiering to AWS.""We would like to see more development on their Copy Automation Tool (CAT) for Oracle, as well as better integration for our customers running Oracle VM.""The scalability of the solution is not as good as it probably could be.""It would be good to have metrics of the box's performance so we can see what it delivers, but currently, I can't see what it's actually doing.""I would like the ability to swap out the network adapters into it. So, without taking out the whole controller, I would like to be able to swap adapters. This would make things easier.""It goes at about 95 percent, so we have had some performance issues. It is hard to clear them.""Self-backup is the only feature lacking in this solution."

More Pure Storage FlashArray Cons →

"The solution could improve by having better integration.""The technical support has been a let down for us. It's something the company has to work on. We haven't been satisfied with their level of service.""The upgrading process needs improvement. Deploy it and notify the customers when new versions and stuff comes out. I don't think they're doing that well.""I would like to see the next generation all-flash, which could be combined.""Huawei OceanStor should work on its saturation level and should be able to take up more load. It should give the same performance that it gives at 20 or 30 percent load for 80 percent as well.""The tool's performance is slow for DBs. We plan to move from Huawei OceanStor to Pure Storage. Its customer service is not good.""We did experience a little latency with this solution.""In the future release, Huawei OceanStor should improve on what they already have. It is a good solution."

"Its overall usability can be improved. It takes some time to know small things here and there to make sure it is working properly."

  • "We have seen a reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO)."
  • "It is a cheaper solution."

  • "Software licensing is a part of the hardware. There is no separate software license. When you purchase the hardware, it has everything included. It has a one-time initial purchase fee. There is also the annual maintenance and the support maintenance cost. Support and maintenance are a part of the new hardware during the initial one year or three years. After that, support and maintenance are optional."

    Overview

Pure Storage FlashArray is the world’s first enterprise-class storage array that runs exclusively on the nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) protocol for memory access and storage. It represents a totally state-of-the-art type of storage technology. It offers users shared accelerated storage that delivers cutting-edge features in the realms of performance, simplicity, and consolidation. Pure Storage is fresh and modern today and will be for the next decade. Without forklift upgrades or planned downtime, Pure Storage takes the work out of storage ownership and delivers unprecedented customer satisfaction.

Pure Storage FlashArray is built with simplicity and reliability in mind. The solution can be implemented and optimized in hours, as opposed to other similar solutions that can take days. It has no moving parts, which removes areas where it could potentially be vulnerable to suffering errors. It is highly stable and gives users the ability to manage system shutdowns in a way that  prevents data loss.

    Benefits of Pure Storage FlashArray

Some of the benefits of using Pure Storage FlashArray include:

    • A much higher level of speed than similar pieces of technology. Pure Storage FlashArray maximizes the speed at which data can be transferred while at the same time minimizing system latencies that might slow the transfer down. Additionally, it offers users quick memory read and data access speeds.

    • A higher bang for your buck in terms of the storage capabilities you get for the money you pay. They are smaller in size than more standard storage technologies, but they offer flash memory, which enables users to store larger amounts of data than the current standard.

    Reviews from Real Users

Pure Storage FlashArray is a highly effective piece of storage technology which stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its overall robustness and the value that it offers by way of its reliability and ease of use. It provides users with many valuable features that allow them to maximize what they can do with this solution. Pure Storage FlashArray’s reliability and ease of use make it a highly valuable solution.

PeerSpot user Prabakaran K., a technical consultant at Injazat Data Systems, notes the robustness of this solution when he writes, "FlashArray has many valuable features. It's very user-friendly and it has high availability, so there is comparatively less downtime. During maintenance, there is no shutdown procedure, so you can directly power off the Array and manage the shutdown process without any data loss, which is a unique feature. Managing replication and data migration is also very easy."

PeerSpot user Jason D., a cloud solutions architect at a tech services company, notes three features that make this solution valuable when he writes, "We've had different types of storage, and three things of this solution are valuable. The first one is its outstanding performance. The second one is its stability. In the about three years that we've had it, we've had component failures, but we never had a service interruption or any data loss. The third one, which is really critical, is that it is super easy to use in terms of provisioning, storage, and managing the arrays. I'm able to maintain a multi-site environment with a couple of dozen arrays with a single mid-level storage admin."

OceanStor Dorado V3 is the industry's first all-flash storage that puts NVMe into commercial use. It is specially designed for enterprises' mission-critical businesses, meeting the most-demanding performance and reliability requirements of databases, VDI, server virtualization, and SAP HANA.

The Quartet storage operating system supports I/O intensive workloads while providing next generation business continuity, and data scaling.
