We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
It allows me to present or to demonstrate the business process flow, visually, without having to resort to PowerPoint, Visio, or other products. The speed and execution of DMN was a big selling point for us. It's very good at conducting business processes that are easily modeled and presented in a way that's easy to understand. The solution is easily compatible with HTML forms and HTML language programming and that is the most significant part. When I compare it with other BPM tools, like IBM, it is great, open source, and free when you use the community version. The most valuable feature is the ability to share the logic within the rules engine with the business, so you can put it up for everybody to read. The number of client implementations and cross-language capabilities to support multiple frameworks is very pluggable compared to Pega. It's also more portable.I've found the active community most valuable but it also provides you with a lot of other features. We are documenting all of the processors and VPN. Then we are sharing it with our business users.

The most valuable feature is automation, which is quite strong and we are quite happy with it.The solution's most valuable aspect is the fact it is highly configurable. We can do configurations very easily. It gives us the ability to create toolkits and use them across many different applications. It allows us to write things one time, instead of having to write a diary for every single different application. We can write at once and reuse it.The workflow of BAW's automation is handled inside of BPM, so we can see what state it is at and how things are processing through. It has had a positive effect on decision-making in my organization. It helps us with our dispute process. It has integrated UI and deployment models, and it has a deep set of consultant and service provider ecosystem features. One of the most valuable features is the way that they are adapting to the market. Initially, it was doing only workflow. Now it has started bringing all the other components like rules within the workflow and then the integration with RPA.No matter what somebody's technical experience level is, the tool can start adding value immediately. Even if that is just an analyst who doesn't have any technical background, they can use some of these no quote accelerators to get things from ideation to deployment in a matter of minutes.

The solution offers excellent workflows. The solution provides us with a very good dashboard. The most valuable aspect of the solution is the various workflows. The most valuable feature is the situational layer cake.It is easy to use, easy to understand, easy to implement and easy to enhance and we can do it as a Cloud. Also it is very user friendly. The stability has been good. We haven't had any issues. The interface is quite simple and easy to use, even for beginners. The solution's most valuable feature is its quick setup. Nowhere else you can create a good-looking application this quick. It's a fairly robust system.

Cons
If there were some industry templates it would have helped significantly, because it is similar to a process map for a domain. That is what we are currently creating, a domain-relevant process map.Especially when you use the open-source version, there are issues with performance.I would also like a very easy to use form builder.I would like to have a feature for audit logging, audit logs and audit log management. And some history of use for the audit logs.I would like to see the forms engine available in the open-source version of this solution. The user interface needs improvement. It should be more tailored to the end-user and offer a better user experience design over the user interface itself.I would say that Camunda should actually focus on small cases as well. There's a lot of space out there, for small businesses. If they can, they should cater to them. When you search for Camunda BPM resources or books on how to utilize Camunda BPM, it is lacking. When it comes to Alfresco, there are thousands of resources that can help you to utilize within AWS and its Group Services. I would like to see the usage of Camunda BPM on Amazon Web Services be improved.

The setup and installation process could be made easier. The UI of the solution is not good. They should work to update the solution and make it better and fresher. The development UI is sometimes a little slow.Every client is moving to the cloud. We are still a little behind with IBM, but we are catching up from my point of view.I would like to see more streamlined install and provisioning; preferably containerized IBM BPM would be helpful. From what I understand, in the next release they're actually going to combine all of this together as one integrated solution... If we could have one unified way to build a solution, that would really help.I would definitely like to see a unified interface between the BPM side of the house and the case side of the house. Something that just seems a bit more cohesive, because right now there is sort of a disconnect between the BPM and the case side of the house. That makes it a bit of a hard sell sometimes. That is definitely first and foremost on my wish list. The main areas which need improvement are specifically around reporting and analytics.

There are some UX shortcomings within the solution. However, it's my understanding that they have addressed them and in the next three months they will come out with a new updated version. They will be moving away from HTML5.From a technical point of view, it would be helpful to have some advanced analytics to help with configuration. We have a lot of unwanted features and it would be good to configure it more appropriately so that we are using just exactly what we need.We need more light retail BPM tools within the Pega system. However, Pega is mostly for big companies.Compared to other BPM products, the interface is somewhat complex, so the usability could be improved.Sometimes when we are patching some data from the database, we are getting added as a timeout. The solution would benefit from more integration capabilities.Pega currently is trying to add chatbots to their systems, and it's still quite immature. This part definitely needs to be improved. The pricing model needs to be improved. Right now, it's too expensive.

Pricing and Cost Advice
I use the open-source free version.Camunda is much cheaper. We are using the open-source version of this solution. It is less cost-prohibitive than other solutions on the market. This solution was in our price range.

Nowadays, clients are looking at pricing as one of the major factors. For IBM products, they always think it is expensive for them. We are still educating our clients on the IBM FlexPoints licensing. There is still a relatively high total cost of ownership to actually implement, support, and stand up solutions. The solution has saved us time.

The price of this solution, including installation and configuration, is comparable to competing vendors.May be somewhat more expensive than other solutions initially, but should have enhanced return on investment. The licensing fees are based on the number of users.
