We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The most valuable features are Report Development (Functionality) and Information Distribution (Flexibility).""A drag-and-drop interface for selecting creating ad hoc reports makes this product very easy to use.""The initial setup is quite straightforward.""IBM Cognos offers tools so that you can design and develop your own test queries and reporting solutions.""IBM Cognos improves the effectiveness of the sales team."

"The uploading of information is very easy, as you just use an Excel sheet to start work right away and obtain the benefits of Power BI.""There was a lot of manual work involved with Excel, whereas once we moved on to Microsoft Power BI, it was a cleaner dashboard and it was faster too.""The feature I find most valuable is the ability to publish Power Bi reports, using an embedded link, directly onto a website.""If you are not very technical this tool could be very useful.""I like the downloadable visualizations a lot. I think that they give the user a very nice starting point in creating awesome dashboards, with the right way to tell their data story.""This solution has improved our ability in making decisions and explaining data.""It has provided customer purchase patterns and great visualization.""PowerBi is used to import our production data and generate dashboards, then integrates other Excel sheets to provide managers dashboards. This helps them get insights to make better OEE improvement decisions, mainly where to focus resources. We became able to see indicators from any time frame (day, week, month, or year), then could make better decisions."

Cons
"This product could use improvement in terms of usability for those with less technical know how.""They were lacking in the initial phases of development in the area of big data, and they still need to improve that aspect of the product.""The AI-based features could be further enhanced by the solution.""The performance is a bottleneck and something that can be improved.""In terms of what could be improved, I would say, monitoring, monitoring, monitoring. Some improvements in monitoring would be helpful. I'd like to see more monitoring of specific reports and fields. The way the auditing is now is very limited, so I'd like to see more of that - of the monitoring."

"I would like to see the product offer more graphics to impact different audiences.""I think because I'm moving more into RPA, I'd definitely like to see integration across the RPA, Power BI, or Tableau platforms, because that integration could then make automation and mundane reporting much faster.""I would like to see Machine Learning for Power Bi Pro users or an intermediate license to enable Machine Learning if you don't have access to a Premium account.""Adding paginated reports to this tool could be of great help for users who want to move away from SSRS.""Some kind of expression wizard, where the user can build a complex expression without any knowledge of DAX, can be a good addition to the product.""We would like to have better SQL support for queries.""This solution needs integration with SAS and more deep analysis functionality.""Real-time updating needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Pricing should be improved.""The pricing of this product is meant for medium to large-scale enterprises."

"I very much recommend the free trial mode.""We have a premium Power BI license in-house that's quite an expensive license. It's $10 a month for four users and then I think 35,000 at the premium rate.""It is somewhere in the middle in terms of price. Licensing is quite clear.""Its cost seems to be unreasonable if you have many users, but for a lesser number of users, it is reasonable. It is $10 per month. Clients easily accept this option, so they must think it is reasonable. It is quite cheap as compared to other tools, such as Tableau. One of the best things about this solution is that it has a trial version.""Once the trial period for the BI service is over, the cost is approximately $10 USD per user, per month, so it's quite reasonable.""The pricing is very reasonable compared to any other tool.""Microsoft BI is not very cheap. A premium license costs roughly 5,000 euros a month.""This product offers good value for the money."
