Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is easy to integrate with other models such as Oracle, other systems, external systems, and to reach events.""The most valuable feature that comes with Netcool/Impact is the ISPF APA support. It is inherent to Netcool/Impact, so I can use the ISPF of any other product, which I can invoke and consume through Impact, and do integrations, which is great. I run the Netcool desktop application so I can integrate with other applications in the ticketing system. It's a great ability being able to invoke ISPF and integrate.""The solution is great at being able to fetch almost any kind of file.""This product allows us to make use of open-source products, including running Java code."

"The integration with the ticketing tool makes sure that there is a record for every issue.""From our monitoring perspective or from a visibility perspective, HPE UCMDB is a must have. It's an amazing piece of software.""I find the Micro Focus Operations Bridge dashboard valuable, including its instrument analysis and anomaly control features that help indicate root causes and problems with your infrastructure.""It allows us to build dashboards for individual parts of the business. Our team members appreciate that they can just get a view of their part of the world without having to worry about anyone else's.""The broad integration possibilities, I'd say, with any kind of product, are probably the most valuable feature.""We use the on-premises version to monitor our systems and manage emails. All our systems use Operations Bridge, especially the critical systems.""I've found the solution to be very scalable.""It has the capability to display overall health of the infrastructure and is very useful for executive reports on the health of the infrastructure."

Cons
"The solution is somewhat complicated. It's not exactly straightforward.""IBM is not investing in the development of the on-premise version of this solution.""Stability-wise, this product needs to be improved.""For improvement, I'd say the dashboard and the overall GUI could use some work. Although, I don't think that there's much improvement that Netcool really needs to achieve in this area, because when we're talking GUI, Impact is able to integrate with any third-party system and it comes with ISPF APA. It's more beneficial than Netcool/OMNIbus in this respect, and it's quite easy to handle."

More IBM Tivoli NetCool Impact Cons →

"We are waiting for quicker release cycles. Also containerized upgrade, so that you don't have to bring a system entirely down to make a minor upgrade, in fact, or a minor patch.""What needs improvement in Micro Focus Operations Bridge is its resource heaviness because you need many resources to deploy and support it. It's a good solution for larger organizations, but for small businesses, not so much.""The setup process can get a little bit complex.""Implementation could be improved.""In a future release, we would like an improved upgrade process. When you upgrade it now, it first uninstalls everything and then reinstalls all the packages, which means any customization that you've done in the directories on the surface disappears.""Installing and upgrading the HPOM and Operations Agent software is not always easy and the process can be quite fragile. Once it is running, it is very quick and stable, but an upgrade can quite easily break something or terminate unexpectedly.""It is a very complicated product. It's difficult to manage. Nowadays, products are very easy to manage, deploy, and integrate, but Operations Bridge is very complicated to manage.""The solution is overall "heavy", requiring multiple servers, even without HA."

  • "Pricing is very flexible and depends on the modules selected as per the requirement."
  • "The licensing cost for this solution is approximately $1,000 USD."

  • "The licensing model for Micro Focus Operations Bridge is unit-based so it can be one device or ten devices depending on your situation or model.
