We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It's pretty powerful and its performance is pretty good.""We are able to deploy within half an hour and we only require one person to complete the implementation.""Sentinel is a SIEM and SOAR tool, so its automation is the best feature; we can reduce human interaction, freeing up our human resources.""The AI capability is one of the main features of the solution because I believe that in the market, there are few solutions that are providing security solutions based on AI and machine learning.""The best functionality that you can get from Azure Sentinel is the SOAR capability. So, you can estimate any type of activity, such as when an alert was triggered or an incident was found.""Log aggregation and data connectors are the most valuable features.""Its inbuilt Kusto Query Language is a valuable feature. It provides the flexibility needed to leverage advanced data analytics rules and policies and enables us to easily navigate all our security events in a single view. It helps any user easily understand the data or any security lags in their data and applications.""We can use Sentinel's playbook to block threats. It covers all of the environment, giving us great visibility."

"The most valuable features of IBM Watson for Cyber Security are ease of use and out-of-the-box reports and compliance policies. Additionally, if there are aspects that are missing IBM add them in the next release.""IBM Watson for Cyber Security is very stable.""The customer support is very good.""The most valuable feature of this product is innovation, where the research and upgrading of technology never ends."

"For many of our services, we use Sumo Logic to track errors and send notifications to our Slack channel, if there are issues. Then, we have our support people monitoring this, and they can react quickly.""Sumo Logic is an easy solution to use. You can set it up very quickly, and it includes a lot of training videos.""We can integrate threat intelligence solutions into the product.""Technical support is always great.""With this tool, we provide access to every developer team the ability to find errors, then they come to us and ask for specific help.""I have no concerns about the stability of the product. I feel it handles the stress we put on it very well.""We use it to ingest Windows domain controller logs. We use this to monitor if anyone is placed in particular administration groups that potentially shouldn't be. It helps us keep track of people.""Scalability has been good for our needs. We haven't run into any scaling issues in regards to size so far."

Cons
"We do see continuous improvement all the time, however, I haven't got a specific feature that is lacking or not well designed.""Sentinel could improve its ticketing and management. A few customers I have worked with liked to take the data created in Sentinel. You can make some basic efforts around that, but the customers wanted to push it to a third-party system so they could set up a proper ticketing management system, like ServiceNow, Jira, etc.""The solution could be more user-friendly; some query languages are required to operate it.""Microsoft Sentinel should provide an alternative query language to KQL for users who lack KQL expertise.""They need to work with other security vendors. For example, we replaced our email gateway with Symantec, but we couldn't collect these logs with Azure Sentinel. Instead of collecting these logs with Azure Sentinel, we are collecting them on Qradar. We couldn't do it with Sentinel, which is a problem for us.""We'd like also a better ticketing system, which is older.""Sentinel can be used in two ways. With other tools like QRadar, I don't need to run queries. Using Sentinel requires users to learn KQL to run technical queries and check things. If they don't know KQL, they can't fully utilize the solution.""The solution should allow for a streamlined CI/CD procedure."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"This is an expensive product, so making it more cost-effective would be an improvement.""They need to continue to build the AI capabilities.""In the future, I would like to see threat intelligence included.""The dashboard could improve in IBM Watson for Cyber Security."

More IBM Watson for Cyber Security Cons →

"We would like the ability to drill down into a dashboard and get into deeper levels.""The solution should improve its UI.""In my opinion, this solution has a steep learning curve and requires practice if users to be able to use this tool very efficiently.""Sumo Logic needs to make sure integrating solutions are seamless.""Sumo Logic Security is expensive, and its pricing could be improved.""The initial setup is the most stressful, like learning how to use it.""There needs to be improvement on imported data which can be used within Sumo Logic to do more advanced queries.""I would like better UI-driven functionality to create alerts and reports. Now, we have to understand the syntax, so it is a little difficult for someone to pick it up without using the manuals. If there was more of a graphical user interface, it would be beneficial."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "The price of this solution should be lower, although I understand why IBM charges a premium price."
  • "IBM Watson for Cyber Security is very simple to license and is priced well."

  • "Purchasing Sumo Logic through the AWS Marketplace was a simple step."
  • "Purchasing the solution through the AWS Marketplace is very easy."
  • "We chose to go through the AWS Marketplace because it makes it a lot easier when we bill our customers. Rather than having to get multiple different sources of information then correlate a monthly bill for our customers, it is just included in the AWS usage charges."
  • "The AWS Marketplace pricing is fairly reasonable for what it does. I wouldn't call it expensive, but I wouldn't call it cheap. It is pretty good."
  • "The only limit to the scalability of the product for us is how much we are willing to pay."
  • "The price scaling comes in a bit expensive."
  • "Pricing has been cheaper than some of the competing tools, like Splunk."
  • "If we went to ELK Stack, which is open source, it would have been less costly, but it would have required more development from our side."
