We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features of IFS Applications are their intuitiveness and ease of use. The navigations are also straightforward, which makes it easy to train users. The feedback I always receive is that it is very user-friendly.""The financial posting controls are quite handy. The user interface is really friendly, highly flexible, and pretty intuitive for end users.""Having a young talented programmer, during the six years of use, we were able to save around 75 000 EUR preparing simple modifications using customization rather than ordering them in IFS / Partner.""A high level of ERP can be handled in IFS.""When it comes to financing, the solution has helped us to concentrate finance functions like accounting processes in one system. This includes about 70 internal entities around the world.""IFS Applications is an all-in-one solution for finance, accounting, and production.""One of our favorite features is the "Info-Zone", which provides operational intelligence in flight and in context to guide both business users and support teams to productivity.""The product is quite flexible."

"Oracle E-Business Suite is a stable product.""Payroll and online benefits enrollment""The on-premise is very similar to the cloud version.""Oracle E-Business Suite has over 20 different modules to choose from, it is comprehensive. Additionally, the integration is very good.""The on-premises solution has maturity in features but also flex fields.""What we like about Oracle E-Business Suite is that we didn't find any issues with it. In the Indian market, the subscription solutions aren't that suitable, even in terms of the complexity of the regulations, taxes, etc., so that's why we had to go for an on-premise solution that's hosted on the cloud, and we're happy with Oracle E-Business Suite. We also like that Oracle E-Business Suite is quite flexible, and we've also built some bolt-ons and they're working fine.""The integration of the various modules is definitely the most valuable feature for us. Our clients being business-minded, which involves customers and suppliers.""The order management is excellent."

Cons
"IFS Applications can improve the reporting capabilities and increase the speed of feedback time in the IFS Applications. This would help with the overall performance of the solution and provide better experiences for customers.""We would like to see AI-driven CSI functions built into the tool that would allow us to quickly tie our improvement goals to metrics and activities, so Assyst will suggest the next steps to help us get closer to our goals.""There should be some improvements in the predefined templates in IFS Applications.""Sometimes from the sales perspective, clients don't always fully understand how large a task or a project they're getting involved in when they decide, "We're going to switch across to IFS." They could probably do a little bit more, maybe around preparing people for these projects.""IFS Applications is not robust enough to handle high-volume transactions, so it's not suitable for larger enterprises.""I have seen that one of the areas that my company has identified for improvement might be the rental management capabilities within the solution.""The solution's initial setup process was complex...The technical support my company receives from the implementation partners of the solution is not that great.""There are certain digital features that need to be incorporated, such as IOP."

More IFS Cloud Platform Cons →

"The simplicity of the user experience needs to be improved tremendously.""The on-premises version of this solution can be difficult to expand, compared to its cloud version. The on-premises version is also more limited, versus the cloud version that has a lot of improvements. Maintaining this solution is also too costly.""I would rate the support for Oracle E-Business Suite a four out of five.""In the future, Oracle E-Business Suite could improve by having a better UI. Competitors are providing much better interfaces.""It requires training before you can easily use this product, so it should be easier to use.""Administration takes some effort. Administrating the technology stack is not so complex but application aware database administration and following the new methodologies like online patching can be a little complex and time consuming. Oracle should ease the administrators jobs and do some innovation on this administration area as well. Oracle Autonomous Database is Oracle's leading technology these days. Using a similar approach, application stack may become a little more self-managing.""Oracle E-Business Suite is a bit outdated because it's been developed more than ten years ago, and this is an area for improvement. My team is still getting used to the solution, so there could still be some features that have not been enabled or features my team isn't aware of yet. There have been issues with the Treasury module of Oracle E-Business Suite, so this is another area for improvement. My company hasn't decided yet on whether to implement the Treasury module or just go with another solution. Another room for improvement in Oracle E-Business Suite is the design, as it needs to be optimized based on usage patterns. What I'd like added in the next release of Oracle E-Business Suite is the time attribute. The solution still has dashboards being rolled out, so the time attribute could already be there or is still in the process of implementation. I also didn't find much use for the Projects module based on my company's requirements. The integration of Oracle E-Business Suite with the rest of the Oracle tools isn't very tight as well, but it could be because of customizations here in India, where the integrations work seamlessly everywhere, except in India. You'll find gaps because of customizations in India which are very, very irritating. For example, if a procurement is moving in the system then all the data has to move from one module to the other, but in the Oracle E-Business Suite Procurement module, you'll notice breaks or gaps that require you to manually transfer that data, so I'd like this improved in the next release of the solution.""The solution needs to be updated with modern technology as it currently runs on the Java platform, JWE, which is obsolete and requires you to need an API supported browser."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is better to buy implementation services from IFS than from partners"
  • "Licensing is on an annual basis, with no additional costs."
  • "Ask for all-inclusive pricing, as they are pretty flexible if you ask for custom models."
  • "Pricing is an area that could be improved. They could be more competitive."
  • "IFS Applications is expensive software, but it's on par with SAP and Oracle. It's for large enterprises and government entities and not for small and medium-sized enterprises. They have one licensing model, but if you want to have a module-specific license, they provide component-based licenses. Unlike SAP and Oracle, it doesn't have different levels of licensing. It's one level of licensing."
  • "There's an additional yearly cost for support."
  • "There are varying license levels that you can purchase."
  • "IFS Applications are competitive in terms of pricing compared to other vendors, such as SAP, Oracle, and Epicor. They are generally cheaper, especially for licensing costs."

  • "Find a best Oracle partner and get a better discount."
  • "Oracle scales the pricing, but E-Business Suite is still very expensive for small to mid-sized businesses."
  • "It costs too much."
  • "The pricing is high."
  • "In order to minimize the implementation and consultancy costs, business lines should have proper definitions. They need to have a proper way of retrieving their data, which should be structured well."
  • "Both the current projects and future projects should be defined well. Licensing should be done according to current and near future plans."
  • "USD $100,000 annually."
  • "Considering the market at the moment, Oracle needs to adjust the pricing of this solution."

    Reviews from Real Users:

Kopano R., Freelancer at a tech services company, says, “What I found most valuable in Oracle E-Business Suite is the patching because it is straightforward. As long as you follow Oracle's best practices, you are able to finish the task of patching without a problem. I like that it's also easy to add products, e.g. if you want to add on financials, you can, or if you don't have financials, you can expand on that. I like that Oracle E-Business Suite is really scalable.”

Mohammed G., Senior Oracle Application Consultant at a comms service provider, writes, “Oracle E-Business Suite consists of a lot of streams, such as financial and HR processes of the enterprise companies. We are using most of the Oracle financial modules, and we have an Oracle stream, FI procurement stream, and HR streams, which have a lot of applications. Oracle E-Business Suite has over 20 different modules to choose from, it is comprehensive. Additionally, the integration is very good. “
