We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"iland is excellent as far as the interface.""The service itself wasn't bad.""They have just implemented a Backup and Restore portal that we think is very good."

More iland Secure Cloud Backup Pros →

"The initial setup was not overly complex.""The peace of mind of the backup is very important. Incremental backups make it fast and easy to use. We can recover from any failures in case of any hardware failures or malware attacks. We can do a rollback and recover our services with a little downtime. We can rollback even in the case of unsuccessful updates.""I know it's not exactly a feature, but I accept it works and it's easy to use. With the Veeam Backup & Replication, we have no problems in managing restore. Obviously, the most important thing about backup software. I used to say that every backup software can make backups, but only good ones can make a restore.""One of the best things about Veeam is that they have consistently improved on themselves since they started. Personally, I've been using Veeam since around 2013/2014 when it was only supporting certain hypervisors such as HyperV, and since then it has become truly mature enterprise-level software with a lot of versatility.""This product is user-friendly. The interface is easy to use.""Veeam Backup & Replication is a great alternative to what is out there. Some of the backups just allow an agent backup to the cloud. You can back up a thousand different ways, but this is a great way to keep a customer and a company in compliance in that they've got their data secure onsite and offsite. The data being transferred to the NAS at the customer's location and also the data being sent to the cloud is encrypted in transit and it's also encrypted at rest so that nobody is going to be able to hack into that. No one will have the keys to do that.""I am not a direct user of this product, but my technical guys tell me that they like the product, and it is easy to use. We don't have any issues with it.""Pricing is fairly reasonable and not overly expensive."

Cons
"They don't support a more current version of VMware.""The vendor needs to changes billing to work like every other business and stop charging people if they stop using your service.""I would like to see a better method of backing up Exchange in the cloud."

More iland Secure Cloud Backup Cons →

"The initial setup was not straightforward at all.""The direct SAN backup integration can be perfected by improving the snapshot removal mechanism and process from the storage volumes.""I would like to see better features for exporting to cloud-based repositories.""It would be ideal if users could know that their data is backed up and have some security functionality where you can actually use the backup to spin up a new cluster and take it from there.""Veeam Backup Replication could improve by having more comparably with other hardware with the immutable copy feature.""I only ever found one error. It was when we were doing a file copy job. After using it for ten minutes, it would slow down and cause a bottleneck error.""The one downside to Veeam is that they don't have a cloud product of their own.""A backup and replication solution should be able to back up a system and do recovery very fast. Even though Veeam Backup & Replication is able to meet most of our needs, it would be better if they can make it faster for backup and restore."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The licensing costs are approximately $12,000 annually."
  • "Billing practices for iLand are monthly. If you are a business and would like a yearly rate, good luck."
  • "iland is affordable."

  • "If you have Exchange, Oracle, SQL, or a supported SAN, then I suggest getting at least an Enterprise edition. It’ll pay for itself in no time."
  • "The pricing and licensing is better than the competitors, but it could be better."
  • "Room for improvement is actually more in the way of licensing. The really good and useful features are in the Enterprise plus edition, and that one is really expensive."
  • "Since pricing is per socket, it is not expensive to add capacity as you go along."
  • "The licensing is based on the number of cores you have in your ESX or Hyper-V environment."
  • "The price is a bit high. Licensing type is VMware friendly, so it is easy."
  • "I think the price is good when you choose the Essentials Suite, but when you buy a full featured version (for instance the Enterprise Plus) the price is a little bit expensive."
  • "Setup cost and licensing of Veeam are nothing to complain about when compared to similar products for enterprise backup recovery solutions."

    Reviews from Real Users

Veeam Backup & Replication is a solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. Some of its major advantages are its ease of set up, the fact that it is agentless, and that it has an intuitive dashboard.

A Network Operations Manager at an educational organization says, "Integration with VMware is excellent with very granular recovery."

An Inside Solutions Architect at a tech services company mentions, “I like that it's agent-less, easy to set up, and hardware-agnostic.”

An Account Manager at a tech services company states, “The dashboard is very, very easy to understand. We do demonstrations all the time with customers just to show them. If they've lost particular files because of a server going down, we can retrieve those files for them and quickly bring those files back up.”

Kerem C., Director of Professional Services/Senior Solution Architect/Trainer at a tech services company, explains, “It's good for backup performance management and backup window management.”
