We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The main benefit is the ease of integration.""Sentinel has an intuitive, user-friendly way to visualize the data properly. It gives me a solid overview of all the logs. We get a more detailed view that I can't get from the other SIEM tools. It has some IP and URL-specific allow listing""I've worked on most of the top SIEM solutions, and Sentinel has an edge in most areas. For example, it has built-in SOAR capabilities, allowing you to run playbooks automatically. Other vendors typically offer SOAR as a separate licensed solution or module, but you get it free with Sentinel. In-depth incident integration is available out of the box.""It is quite efficient. It helps our clients in identifying their security issues and respond quickly. Our clients want to automate incident response and all those things.""Mainly, this is a cloud-native product. So, there are zero concerns about managing the whole infrastructure on-premises.""It has a lot of great features.""The pricing of the product is excellent.""If you know how to do KQL (kusto query language) queries, which are how you query the log data inside Sentinel, the information is pretty rich. You can get down to a good level of detail regarding event information or notifications."

"We found the correlation engine to be very good. It takes logs from different types of devices and does the correlation in a good way.""The product has a valuable interface.""The most valuable feature of ArcSight Intelligence is a single console where the entire dashboard gives all the connected details in a single place.""The ability to tailor an environment to suit our specific use cases is a major advantage of ArcSight compared to other logging servers such as Splunk.""The platform helps us improve threat detection capabilities."

More ArcSight Intelligence Pros →

"The assessment is most valuable.""It's a relevant management tool.""It's very scalable.""InsightVM's most valuable feature is risk scoring, a formula based on different vectors like the ease of exploitation and the availability of the machine.""InsightVM's best features are the vulnerability database and remediation steps.""It is stable and scalable.""The solution is automatically scheduled so it runs by itself.""The most valuable feature for us is the different types of reporting it provides."

Cons
"Only one thing is missing: NDR is not available out-of-the-box. The competitive cloud-native SIEM providers have the NDR component. Currently, Sentinel needs NDR to be powered from either Corelight or some other NDR provider.""There is room for improvement in entity behavior and the integration site.""There are certain delays. For example, if an alert has been rated on Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, it might take up to an hour for that alert to reach Sentinel. This should ideally take no more than one or two seconds.""While I appreciate the UI itself and the vast amount of information available on the platform, I'm finding the overall user experience to be frustrating due to frequent disconnections and the requirement to repeatedly re-authenticate.""They need to work with other security vendors. For example, we replaced our email gateway with Symantec, but we couldn't collect these logs with Azure Sentinel. Instead of collecting these logs with Azure Sentinel, we are collecting them on Qradar. We couldn't do it with Sentinel, which is a problem for us.""Sentinel can be used in two ways. With other tools like QRadar, I don't need to run queries. Using Sentinel requires users to learn KQL to run technical queries and check things. If they don't know KQL, they can't fully utilize the solution.""They only classify alerts into three categories: high, medium, and low. So, from the user's point of view, having another critical category would be awesome.""The learning curve could be improved. I am still learning it. We were able to implement the basic features to get them up and running, but there are still so many things that I don't know about all its features. They have a lot of features that we have not been able to use or apply. If they could work on reducing the solution's learning curve, that would be good. While there is a training course held by Microsoft to learn more about this solution, there is a cost associated with it."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"ArcSight Intelligence's pricing needs improvement.""The dashboard is not user-friendly and is in black and white.""We haven't found the product fully scalable.""ArcSight Intelligence is a bit slower, and its speed should be improved.""The frequency of the updates that we are getting can be improved because the number and types of incidents that are happening at the global level are far more than what we are receiving. The frequency of updates feeds related to our rules should be increased. There should be more frequent information about the new rules that are coming and the global threats that are happening. There should be better options for dashboard creation. At present, the dashboards are good, but there is scope to make them better."

More ArcSight Intelligence Cons →

"The reporting could be better.""The InsightVM cannot scan if we connect to our customer by the VPN.""In terms of improvements, its price could be better. Our main issue with Rapid7 is that it is too expensive. You can only sell it to enterprise accounts. In terms of new features, Rapid7 came up with a product called InsightIDR a couple of years ago, which is a good SIEM solution. We expect that Rapid7 will work on some sort of integration between InsightVM and InsightIDR, where vulnerability or anomaly detected by InsightVM can be reported in InsightIDR in some sort of real-time. Rapid7 doesn't patch. For example, if you have a vulnerability, some products can scan and also do the patching, but Rapid7 does not do the patching. It would be nice if it can also patch.""Reporting could be expanded.""Some difficulties with the online reporting and lack of integrations.""One area I would like to improve in InsightVM is its integration with other solutions.""Rapid7 InsightVM, has impressive capabilities, especially when it comes to managing video equipment. However, we've noticed that Rapid7 also offers a cloud solution called CloudSec, and we don't have that. We think it would be better if InsightVM had all the features for both on-premise and cloud management.""We'd like the agent to cover more compliance issues."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "Its price is average and not very high. Splunk might be a bit cheaper than this. Its licensing is on a monthly basis."
  • "The solution is expensive and only suitable for enterprise environments."
  • "ArcSight Intelligence is an expensive solution."
  • "It is an expensive platform."
  • "They offer perpetual licenses for the product."

  • "The price of the solution is less than the competitors."
  • "I do not have experience with the pricing of the solution."
  • "This solution is expensive, but it's fine for us as we have an open budget for security solutions. Protection and having the system secured is more important."
  • "The license is IP based. How many IPs you are using to scan is the amount of the license you have to buy. The number of users doesn't matter; many users can use it or only person. It depends on the culture of the organization."
  • "Our licensing costs are somewhere around $40,000 annually. There are no additional fees."
  • "The licensing is asset-based and very straightforward."
  • "Its price is too high. My only concern or issue with Rapid7 is its pricing."
  • "Comparing the price with the value that we receive, I am not happy with it."
