Before Veeam, we had backup infrastructure sprawl. Veeam was able to reduce our overall backup windows while reducing our dedicated backup infrastructure.Vendor integration for many of the enterprise features have allowed for us to have greater performance from our storage vendors further improving on our commitments to protect our clients' data.It most valuable features are seeding and faster backups over small links.Veeam replication gives migration tools/options for VMware.I enjoy the ability to quickly search for VMs through the Veeam console. It has helped us to protect our IP address and critical information.Features with the most value are Instant VM Recovery, SQL Explorer and Exchange Explorer.Replication and restore object in Exchange boxes with possibility to select part of Microsoft directory.

Cons
We backup a lot of information in a 24-hour period. It works fine. But there's always room for improvement on that.

Multithreading of health check process: This can take too much time to process on large jobs and/or large VMs.Additional executive summary reports for the entire infrastructure would be a nice to have. One challenge that we have encountered was on the long-term retention of data. Be sure to look into a dedicated deduplication appliance. It could use DR features similar to Zerto. The remote SQL server has had multiple sizing issues within the logs and SQL backup space and sharing with other database apps. The product is missing some commonsense features and tools for an enterprise backup recovery product,The only issue on which we would like to see for improvement would be, potentially, the ability to do some different things with recovery, like faster recovery onsite.Physical backup is always where room for improvement could be but Veeam has always stated they are not going in that direction.

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
We have increased our scalability while being able to free up senior resources from recovery activities. I estimate our overall savings to about $20,000 per year.Setup cost and licensing of Veeam are nothing to complain about when compared to similar products for enterprise backup recovery solutions.I think the price is good when you choose the Essentials Suite, but when you buy a full featured version (for instance the Enterprise Plus) the price is a little bit expensive. The price is a bit high. Licensing type is VMware friendly, so it is easy.Since pricing is per socket, it is not expensive to add capacity as you go along. The licensing is based on the number of cores you have in your ESX or Hyper-V environment.Room for improvement is actually more in the way of licensing. The really good and useful features are in the Enterprise plus edition, and that one is really expensive. The pricing and licensing is better than the competitors, but it could be better.
