We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution integrates easily.""Service availability is the most valuable feature. It gives every user 100 percent uptime.""The most valuable aspects of Linode are the virtual server and the clean server. I install what I need on it.""Generally speaking, I have not found any faults using Linode. For what we wanted, they provided a complete solution.""Linode has many other cloud servers across the globe.""It has helped to minimize the risk and scale services at large in virtually no time.""The number one thing we like about Linode isn't necessarily a service, it's their support. We've found their support to be absolutely fantastic. They've been so outstanding with their support. Every single time we call them and we ask for advice or help, they go above and beyond and it's really made us appreciate what they do.""The creation of instances is very good, as is their interface which is not complex and is easy to use. With the dashboard it is easy to create a new instance and add your favorite things. You can add Debian, Ubuntu, or CentOS, or any flavor of operating system. You can select the RAM for your instance as well."

"The solution is stable and extremely easy to calibrate.""What I found to be the most valuable features were better performance and uptime.""The solution is simple and robust.""I appreciate its storage licensing model, as it offers flexibility.""The solution is very easy to manage.""Nutanix Unified Storage does a very good job of unifying our organization's block, file, and object storage. It puts it all in one place. From one platform, we can deploy S3-type buckets. We can provide iSCSI-level block storage if we need to. It does a great job with home folders and departmental shares, which is what we mostly use Nutanix Unified Storage for.""Nutanix Objects is reliable.""The integration with Prism Central makes it a lot easier to manage, so we just have a single pane of glass location that we can go to. We do not have a separate admin console or anything that we have to use."

Cons
"I'm not sure what could be improved at Linode since they're likely already making enhancements, especially with the Akamai acquisition and, I don't have any specific suggestions as I haven't encountered any major issues. I might consider using API for managing DNS records, but overall, I'm satisfied with Linode.""Its cost can be improved.""Before they changed the dashboard, I found some of the more granular options easier to find.""It's not really an issue with Linode itself but upgrading Linux major versions can be challenging. It would be be fantastic if Linode developed a way to ease transitioning to a major new Linux upgrade.""It would be helpful if they offered a service where they handle the Linux security.""I've had some difficulties with some of their IP addresses being banned by certain mail servers.""Because they are a smaller company, they do not have, for example, all of the ways for authentication that Amazon or Azure has.""I don't know how all of their services work, but my understanding is that they're not offering the entry-level machine for someone who just wants to own their own web page."

More Linode Cons →

"The escalation process with technical support could do with some improvement.""One thing I'd appreciate is having a desktop application similar to what VMware offered.""The documentation on the support site needs to be improved.""Managing other storage infrastructure on Nutanix Files Storage is an area for improvement. In particular, I want to add other forms of storage from different vendors not currently in Nutanix Files Storage, to the file server, for better management.""Nutanix needs to improve their cybersecurity options at the storage level.""The solution should increase its storage capabilities.""Allowing the use of the Gflag compromises the integrity of the Nutanix system and its established standards.""The current hardware is not as dense as it could be. In our deployment, we have 2 PB per site, and we have to have 24 nodes. That's a lot of cabling and network ports that we use up. More dense nodes would be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I pay just over £20 per month and have done so ever since I started eight years ago, which to me is good value."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. I like the simplicity of it, starting at $5, then doubling as it goes up from there. That is a brilliant idea, and it is not complex at all. It is about as dead simple as you can imagine. So, if you want to double what you have, then you double your price, pay the money, and reboot. It is done. It's that simple. You can't beat that."
  • "One key difference is that pricing is very hard to come by and to understand with all the bigger companies. Their pricing models are so weird and it's hard to figure out exactly how much I am going to pay for this kind of service. Everything is piecemeal. With Linode, it's simple and straightforward. You know exactly what you will have to pay at the end of the day."
  • "Compared to other service providers, like AWS and Google, the cost of services are much less and more affordable. We are saving about 90 percent by going with Linode versus other cloud providers."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. If you have very small applications, you can use the plan which costs $5 per month. That gives you 50 GB of memory and almost 1 GB of RAM. If you need more than you have to select the next plan which is $10 per month, which has about 70 GB of data and 2 GB of RAM."
  • "The value for the price is really good."
  • "Pricing is very good and flexible, according to the resources required."
  • "Being that they are small, their prices are slightly higher than the large providers like Amazon if you compare raw computing power."

  • "The price of the license is expensive when comparing it to traditional storage."
  • "I find Nutanix Files Storage competitively priced, even its feature set. Its price is seven out of ten."
  • "If we compare the cost of Nutanix Objects Storage to other solutions such as VMware licenses, our current choice is Nutanix Objects Storage. This solution is more cost-effective. However, adding VMware to Nutanix would not be a cost-efficient decision, which is why we do not use it anymore."
  • "It is quite expensive otherwise as it comes with three-tier peer underlying hardware."
  • "For clients running Nutanix, the licensing cost for Files is a small add-on cost."
  • "With all of the Nutanix equipment, the licensing is expensive. We operate in the enterprise space, but we're a midsized company. At times, the price tag is a little bit shocking for a company with only 35 employees. We're not a Fortune 500 company, but we deal with Fortune 500 drug and energy companies. We have to play in that enterprise space if we're going to have enterprise customers. I'm very price-conscious, but I understand that if I want the best, I've got to pay the price."
  • "It's not the cheapest solution. It's in line with other solutions, but it offers features that the competitors don't have at any price point, especially with regard to analytics and ransomware prevention. No one else has any sort of object-based storage available. Nutanix Unified Storage is a lot more feature-rich. This is a situation where you get what you pay for."
  • "The product is pricey."
