Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I like the options for multiple displays. The unattended access is very useful, but it can also be misused. So, it is something you have to be careful with.""No issues with stability. It has worked on every platform I’ve tried it on, and not interfered with anything.""The initial setup was pretty straightforward.""Unattended remote assistance.""It is a scalable solution.""It saves us drive time, we don't have to go to clients. We can just use remote access.""The initial setup was very easy.""One of the improvements they made was a LogMeIn Central client - that was a couple years ago - and that has been great. You no longer have to use their web interface. There's actually a client that you can install, which lists all of the machines and servers that you can access. That works really well."

"The most valuable feature of this solution is its ability to deploy patches to nearly all applications.""It uses detailed descriptions of the workstations, and that is good for me.""I like a lot of the reporting capabilities and baseline configurations.""This solution helps us by automating the patching of our system.""The most valuable feature is the scalability.""It lets you know what your infrastructure is like and what state you are in.""SCCM does everything from A to Z for a Windows operating system.""The most valuable feature of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager is the availability of being able to manage the Microsoft estate. It handles many areas, such as asset management and tracking."

Cons
"I have had issues where LogMeIn has not been useful, then we have not been able to work that day. This happens probably two or three times a year.""The screen. Make it clearer. The screen resolutions don't always line up. So clarity of the screen, and speed.""The initial load is terribly slow and often has delays with the login page loading.""Compared to other products, I feel that their biggest weakness has been customer service. They are very nice, but things take forever to resolve. It has been a major issue there. Otherwise, we're happy. We haven't moved away from them because we haven't found anybody with comparable pricing for our business model.""LogMeIn Rescue could be made a lot easier where you could just tell the person where to go and log in, and they could just log in. Or even make it simpler where you could just send a file to a person and they would click on it; just something easier. The way they have it right now, it's not easy.""I do not like the antivirus.""It's not really a true RMM product but more of just a remote access.""Sometimes it just fails to load."

More LogMeIn Central Cons →

"The ability to integrate MDM would be great.""The setup was complex and I faced a lot of problems initially because I was new to the solution.""The solution is on-premises. The cloud version of the product, if a person needs to be on the cloud, would be InTune, which already exists as an option. SCCM doesn't need to offer cloud features for this reason.""Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager can improve by allowing us to schedule the scripts, we don't have a script scheduling option and have to do it manually.""It is a bit of an old and outdated product.""Marketing: Our management doesn't understand that there is a piece of software which helps them automate and manage the entire network, as far as operating systems on computers.""It is not easy to get good technical support, especially at level one.""Some of the capabilities aren't fully developed yet. It's an ongoing work in progress. I think they are making some steps in the right direction as far as managing workstations centrally, like Intune."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It sucks that I am paying for LogMeIn Central, LogMeIn Pro, and LogMeIn Rescue, plus LogMeIn Ignition, which is the mobile app. It costs me a lot of money every month at LogMeIn. "
  • "It really is an expensive product for me."
  • "Pricing is a little on the expensive side, compared to what TeamViewer has offered."
  • "It used to be a lot cheaper but then the price shot up (doubled over the span of two years), but it's hard to switch, and most competing products are similarly priced anyway."
  • "Pricing is a little high. They require for LogMeIn Central to go into brackets. If you go over a certain amount of PCs or servers to access, going up to the next bracket is a big jump."
  • "The price is a little high but it's competitive. The licensing process is fairly easy."
  • "It's probably worth the value, but the price increases over the last five years are getting harder to justify."
  • "We went with it for pricing reasons, that it was the biggest bang for our buck, by combining the ability to have a central security console, as well as a central point for user administration."
  • More LogMeIn Central Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Pricing and licensing are horrible. You have to not look at dollar value to use SCCM. It's super-duper expensive but it works. The acquisition cost is expensive, it's labor-intensive. But it works."
  • "Pricing and licensing are a downside of SCCM. It's expensive. I'd have to confirm this, but I think they changed the licensing to core-based instead of socket-based. It's not cheap, because you have to buy the software, you have to buy SQL. Another thing we learned from talking to Microsoft is that they provide you a license for SQL if you run it on the same box as the primary server. If you run it outside that box, you have to buy SQL. Microsoft does recommend you running it on the same box because of performance. But then, in order to run SQL, SCCM, and everything on the same box, you better have some resources. It's an expensive solution. There's no doubt about it."
  • "Overall, I think it's fine. It's pretty much in-line because there are ways to offset it with the Office 365 licensing."
  • "SCCM comes with its own version of SQL Server. If you use that SQL Server with SCCM and don't use it for another applications than you get an SQL Server for free."
  • "The licensing is good because they have various options, depending on what you are looking for."
  • "Pricing is negotiable with Microsoft, depending upon which of their packages you choose."
  • "When you compare this solution with other tools in the market you might actually find a lot of variation in the pricing and that's why people opt for the other tools rather than Microsoft tools."
  • "Its price is okay because it is part of our licensing."
