We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Native integration with Microsoft security products or other Microsoft software is also crucial. For example, we can integrate Sentinel with Office 365 with one click. Other integrations aren't as easy. Sometimes, we have to do it manually.""The UI of Sentinel is very good and easy to use, even for beginners.""Azure Application Gateway makes things a lot easier. You can create dashboards, alert rules, hunting and custom queries, and functions with it.""It is quite efficient. It helps our clients in identifying their security issues and respond quickly. Our clients want to automate incident response and all those things.""We didn't have anything similar. So, it really provides value from the incidents and automation point of view. The overview of the security fabric is most valuable.""Microsoft Sentinel comes preloaded with templates for teaching and analytics rules.""The main benefit is the ease of integration.""The analytic rule is the most valuable feature."

"It is massively useful and great for testing. We can just go, find logs, and attach them easily. It has a very quick lookup. Whereas, before we would have to go, dig around, and find the server that the logs were connected to, then go to the server, download the log, and attach it. Now, we can just go straight to this solution, type in the log ID and server ID, and obtain the information that we want.""The tool is simple to setup where it is just plug and play. The tool is reliable and we never had any performance issues.""The visualizations in Kibana are the most valuable feature. It's much more convenient to have a visualization of logs. We can see status really clearly and very fast, with just a couple of clicks.""The other nice thing about Logz.io is their team. When it comes to onboarding, their support is incredibly proactive. They bring the brand experience from a customer services perspective because their team is always there to help you refine filters and tweak dashboards. That is really a useful thing to have. Their engagement is really supportive.""InsightOne is the main reason why we use LogMeIn. This is mostly because of log data that we are pushing tools and logs in general.""We use the tool to track the dev and production environment.""The query mechanism for response codes and application health is valuable.""We use the product for log collection and monitoring."

"I have no concerns about the stability of the product. I feel it handles the stress we put on it very well.""Scalability has been good for our needs. We haven't run into any scaling issues in regards to size so far.""It helps a lot because we can troubleshoot issues pretty easily.""Technical support is always great.""We can ingest logs and make reports out of them. It is a good tool which can help us monitor any issues.""Support has been excellent. Sumo Logic's support staff is really good, both their account management staff and direct support.""For many of our services, we use Sumo Logic to track errors and send notifications to our Slack channel, if there are issues. Then, we have our support people monitoring this, and they can react quickly.""We can integrate threat intelligence solutions into the product."

Cons
"If Sentinel had a graphical user interface, it would be easier to use. I would also like it to be more customizable.""I think the number one area of improvement for Sentinel would be the cost.""The playbook development environment is not as rich as it should be. There are multiple occasions when we face problems while creating the playbook.""Only one thing is missing: NDR is not available out-of-the-box. The competitive cloud-native SIEM providers have the NDR component. Currently, Sentinel needs NDR to be powered from either Corelight or some other NDR provider.""Sentinel could improve its ticketing and management. A few customers I have worked with liked to take the data created in Sentinel. You can make some basic efforts around that, but the customers wanted to push it to a third-party system so they could set up a proper ticketing management system, like ServiceNow, Jira, etc.""They can work on the EDR side of things... Every time we need to onboard these kinds of machines into the EDR, we need to do it with the help of Intune, to sync up the devices, and do the configuration. I'm looking for something on the EDR side that will reduce this kind of work.""Its implementation could be simpler. It is not really simple or straightforward. It is in the middle. Sometimes, connectors are a little bit complex.""They need to work with other security vendors. For example, we replaced our email gateway with Symantec, but we couldn't collect these logs with Azure Sentinel. Instead of collecting these logs with Azure Sentinel, we are collecting them on Qradar. We couldn't do it with Sentinel, which is a problem for us."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"The price can be cheaper and they should have better monitoring.""The product needs improvement from a filtering perspective.""The solution needs to improve its data retention. It should be greater than seven days. The product needs to improve its documentation as well.""Capacity planning could be a little bit of a struggle.""I would like them to improve how they manage releases. Some of our integrations integrate specifically with set versions. Logz.io occasionally releases an update that might break that integration. On one occasion, we found out a little bit too late, then we had to roll it back.""I would like granularity on alerting so we can get tentative alerts and major alerts, then break it down between the two.""The solution needs to expand its access control and make it accessible through API.""When it comes to reducing our troubleshooting time, it depends. When there are no bugs in Logz.io, it reduces troubleshooting by 5 to 10 percent. When there are bugs, it increases our troubleshooting time by 200 percent or more."

More Logz.io Cons →

"The initial setup is the most stressful, like learning how to use it.""The API integration in Sumo Logic Security could improve. There are delayed connections or they stop and then automatically start. Having a seamless log collection would be beneficial.""We would like to have some type of predefined setup for the logs, making the setup easier by default.""If you look at some of the other offerings right now that are available in the market, they do offer APM as well as the product they're offering. I believe Sumo Logic is not there yet. So that's something which I would love to see.""Sumo Logic needs to make sure integrating solutions are seamless.""We would like the ability to drill down into a dashboard and get into deeper levels.""It would be nice to have an improved ability to scroll through logs within a time frame. Right now, we can search for specific errors. However, if we want to look for "before and after" within a specific time frame, it's not easy using the tool. This would be an improvement.""There are some API gaps that are missing."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "You pay for what you need, and that is a good model. They are also quite happy to talk to you about your uses and your use case. They will even go as far as suggesting things that you don't need to do in order to save you money. At one point, I was quite surprised at how cheap it could be if we wanted it to be or how much they would help us manage our costs."
  • "At the time it was set up, we thought Logz.io was very reasonable for what we were getting in terms of how much time and hosting costs it was saving us, because you don't have to run the servers for it anymore."
  • "The tool is an open source product."
  • "The product's pricing is cheaper than other solutions."
  • "The product is a little expensive."
  • More Logz.io Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Purchasing Sumo Logic through the AWS Marketplace was a simple step."
  • "Purchasing the solution through the AWS Marketplace is very easy."
  • "We chose to go through the AWS Marketplace because it makes it a lot easier when we bill our customers. Rather than having to get multiple different sources of information then correlate a monthly bill for our customers, it is just included in the AWS usage charges."
  • "The AWS Marketplace pricing is fairly reasonable for what it does. I wouldn't call it expensive, but I wouldn't call it cheap. It is pretty good."
  • "The only limit to the scalability of the product for us is how much we are willing to pay."
  • "The price scaling comes in a bit expensive."
  • "Pricing has been cheaper than some of the competing tools, like Splunk."
  • "If we went to ELK Stack, which is open source, it would have been less costly, but it would have required more development from our side."
