We performed a comparison between McAfee Complete Data Protection and Microsoft BitLocker based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: McAfee Complete Data Protection wins out in this comparison. It has impressive security features, is easy to deploy and use, and has superior customer support. One area where Microsoft BitLocker does come out on top is in the pricing category.
"With McAfee Complete Data Protection, you can managed all your security solutions from one single server and one interface. This might be the most powerful advantage of McAfee's solution."
"The interface is very good. You can create and manage your own dashboard."
"With proper policies and configuration, it prevents sending corporate data to both cloud storage or to flash drives and data extraction."
"The McAfee Threat Protection and McAfee Web Protection are valuable aspects of the solution. They're better than other features that come with the endpoints."
"All of the Complete Data products are valuable."
"The interface is user-friendly and it provides a large number of options."
"We can scale the solution."
"Reporting and encryption are its most valuable features."
"The solution has a feature that automatically asks the users to upgrade their password once we set up the process."
"The most valuable feature is the authentication process which is very fast."
"I like the fact that you can get a BitLocker encryption key out of OneDrive."
"The best thing about it is the encryption type and the way it requires TPM when someone tries to access the drive."
"It is easy to implement and has AD integration."
"Microsoft BitLocker's most valuable feature is endpoint encryption, and it's quite easy to manage."
"The solution works the way it's supposed to - stability and scalability are fine."
"The tool is stable."
"I want simplicity. A new user opening the dashboard will be confused. It needs to be more user-friendly."
"In terms of where the solution could improve, it could integrate with network solutions for ADTs, email web gateways and discovery."
"Though there may be some ransomware detection modules now in McAfee Complete Data Protection, it's a field that McAfee should focus on, particularly having integration with some EDR or other add-ons. This is so McAfee Complete Data Protection would have more accuracy in detecting new ransomware in the market. What I'd like to see in the next release of the solution is for its pricing to be more cost-effective because some competitors have cheaper pricing, so McAfee Complete Data Protection can't compete. Sometimes, some new vendors offer other solutions rather than McAfee Complete Data Protection, to win customers over, and this is a loss for McAfee."
"The drive side encryption can be confusing to use and needs better documentation."
"The disk encryption can be improved."
"The UI could be improved a bit."
"Initial setup was complex."
"I would like to have an easier and less-hassle upgrade process in future releases of the software, and extra license renewal price discounts too."
"The console GUI could be better."
"User profiles can be improved so that people can create their own passwords. It has one password per machine, which is a problem. We would prefer each user to have his or her own boot password. Each user can have a username and password or biometrics, such as fingerprints and iris scanner, integrated into the boot process, but I really can't see that coming anytime soon, if ever."
"The encryption takes a long time to complete, and our system runs very slowly while it is encrypting."
"If integration with Active Directory are not mandatory for him, I think that there are many other solutions in the market that equal or are much stronger than Microsoft."
"They should offer better login capabilities that are more secure."
"The implementation of BitLocker is not simple. There are many prerequisites and hours of study and testing."
"The only thing that could be slightly improved is the occasional stability issue."
"Lacks a portal that can be managed rather than just existing."
