We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"With this solution, the device control is more reliable and more stable.""I don't need to have any interaction with this product, which means that it is very, very good, and it is doing its job.""It is capable of acting as Web control, Device Control, or Data Control.""The McAfee Threat Protection and McAfee Web Protection are valuable aspects of the solution. They're better than other features that come with the endpoints.""In the configuration, you can restrict a user from accessing a removable drive.""The interface is very good. You can create and manage your own dashboard.""With McAfee Complete Data Protection, you can managed all your security solutions from one single server and one interface. This might be the most powerful advantage of McAfee's solution.""The server software console is exquisitely designed and organized for handy access and manipulation by the administrator."

"The Intercept X feature is the most valuable feature. You can't find this feature in other firewalls because Intercept X works as if it has an interaction between the endpoint and the firewall.""The most valuable features of the solution are the fact that they are able to encrypt the hard disk and to encrypt USB sticks.""The user interface is simple, It makes it very easy to use.""The monitoring features are easy to use.""The user experience and the quality of the features are good.""Policy deployment is easy and quick to do.""The solution has done a fabulous job of protecting us from threats.""The most valuable feature is the synchronized security. It's a unique feature on the market at this time only offered by Sophos. As a reseller, we often win bids and get clients because of this unique trademark feature."

Cons
"The solution should be more user-friendly.""This solution does not do as well at protecting the end-user against unknown viruses.""It is difficult to manage.""The solution needs to reduce the number of false positives. There are too many of them.""I want simplicity. A new user opening the dashboard will be confused. It needs to be more user-friendly.""The refresh feature needs improvement. You need to refresh it manually yt going to the address bar, clicking on it and pressing enter, or pressing F5. There should be a button you can click on to refresh or have it so every five seconds it's refreshing.""The product consumes too much RAM and CPU for its processing and this can lead to resource issues on PCs.""I would like to have an easier and less-hassle upgrade process in future releases of the software, and extra license renewal price discounts too."

"Sophos SafeGuard is a German product. Sophos isn't really active in Europe. The Middle East, Africa, South Africa works with Sophos but their primary users aren't in Europe. They should market and push this solution to the European market.""The solution is not using other features like booting encryption, because it causes very heavy processing of the workstation. If they could find some way to handle the encryption and decryption to be lighter on the workstation it would be better.""The cost is rather expensive. It's a pain point for many clients. They should work to see if they can reduce pricing.""I would like to see a support-cloud, where Sophos creates a single package that contains all of its products.""The tutorials need to be simplified. The existing ones need to be easier to follow and we could use some tutorials for basic setups. They should aim to be more like Cisco, which offers very good tutorials and materials.""Having a DLP integrated with the encryption engine would be very good.""Technical support could be a bit better.""In the next release, I would like to see more automation with the endpoint logging, but it's a special feature that is quite complicated to explain."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing costs depend on the series. For example, XG 85 can be around $200. If you go to ACC or to a four or five-year enterprise solution, you will find these devices can cost $10,000. It depends on the series.""Licensing for this solution is on a yearly basis.""The licenses are dependant on the number of users and computers you have to protect.""We have a yearly license with Sophos which is around $1000-$1200 or so per annum. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee.""Licensing is on a yearly basis and the pricing could be better.""It would be great if the price of the solution was lower than the current price. If we are to sell this particular solution to smaller businesses and not just enterprise businesses it needs to be lower."

Overview

Sensitive data is constantly at risk of loss, theft, and exposure. Many times, the data simply walks right out the front door on a laptop or USB device. Companies that suffer such a data loss risk serious consequences, including regulatory penalties, public disclosure, brand damage, customer distrust, and financial losses. According to a Ponemon Institute report, 7% of all corporate laptops will be lost or stolen sometime during their useful life. The rapid proliferation of mobile devices with large storage capacities and often internet access is opening up even more channels for data loss or theft, so protecting sensitive, proprietary, and personally identifiable information must be a top priority. McAfee Complete Data Protection Suites address all of these concerns and many more.

Protect your confidential information and comply with regulatory mandates safely and securely with SafeGuard Enterprise, Utimaco's comprehensive modular information protection platform.
