We compared Symantec Endpoint Security and McAfee MOVE AntiVirus across several parameters based on our users' reviews. After reading the collected data, you can find our conclusion below:
Comparison Results: Symantec Endpoint Security has a more intricate initial setup and longer deployment time, whereas McAfee MOVE AntiVirus offers a straightforward and simple setup. Symantec Endpoint Security provides advanced features like patch management, security, user-friendliness, and comprehensive protection for various devices. Conversely, McAfee MOVE AntiVirus is commended for its ease of use, stability, and minimal impact on system performance. However, Symantec Endpoint Security could improve in areas such as the patching process, EDR functionality, and support services. Similarly, McAfee MOVE AntiVirus needs enhancements in performance, security, cost, stability, and user experience.
"Everything can be combined from the endpoint and server infrastructure security perspective."
"One of the most valuable features is the performance. It's very stable."
"Threat detection and prevention are the most significant features. It covers most of the data collected by sending it to McAfee by looking at the behavioral analysis, vulnerabilities, and such, and then it assesses the data with the threat intelligence in their analytical engine."
"There is no problem with the stability of the product...It is a scalable solution."
"The stability is very good."
"I like that it keeps my systems secure."
"The most valuable features of McAfee MOVE AntiVirus are the auto-scans on the systems, and if it detects any virus, it will send out notifications or alerts."
"It has a very good interface."
"The most valuable features of Symantec Endpoint Security are endpoint protection, antivirus, firewall, and policy creation."
"When they started they found it very easy; not easy to implement but easy to use. We started with the headquarters here and later we also implemented it for all the subsidiaries in the region, in other countries. They have a centralized solution, so they can help other countries in management."
"The initial setup is straightforward."
"It is a scalable product and is average stability-wise."
"It's good at detecting signature-based stuff and stopping that."
"The solution can scale."
"Its response time is the most valuable. It is very quick."
"Symantec has cloud-based endpoint protection, so whether a user is off the network or on the network, the endpoint will be protected by the cloud."
"In the next release, MOVE AntiVirus should include a file protection feature for mobile devices."
"It would be ideal if the product could offer more integration."
"McAfee MOVE AntiVirus blocks ports and applications that we need to use."
"Right now, nothing is missing from the solution."
"The performance of this product could be improved."
"It requires deployment of multiple agents for multiple jobs which is unnecessary."
"Sometimes, the updates don't happen successfully. The updates start, but they are not completed. Let's say there is a process that runs on the server-side every night, and it pushes the updates. Sometimes, these updates fail. I'm not sure whether it is a McAfee's problem or an internal problem with our systems. If this is really an issue with McAfee MOVE AntiVirus, McAfee can work on it and improve it in the next release. If it is an internal issue, I need to figure out why it is happening within the organization. We may need to take some technical support from McAfee to see what the problem is and then we need to get it fixed. At this point in time, all I know is that it happens sometimes."
"The solution is stable but it could still improve."
"The agent shouldn't use up so many resources at the endpoint when scanning and protecting."
"I would like to see a hybrid version of this solution that covers both in-house and cloud-based servers."
"After selling this product, what we have observed is that the system gets slower, which is a major issue."
"Future releases should ideally be cheaper."
"The Centralized Management could be improved."
"This solution is resource-heavy."
"The management of the server is a bit complex."
"Symantec's application security module needs some improvement. You need to create a lot of fingerprints for application security. For instance, let's say I have different brands of ATMs in my environment, like Wincor and NCR. I use GRG to deploy an application control to whitelist some applications. I have to get the exact image of the different models of ATMs. When I tested in the past, some machines would not connect to the server without that."
