We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is quite efficient. It helps our clients in identifying their security issues and respond quickly. Our clients want to automate incident response and all those things.""The UI-based analytics are excellent.""The most valuable feature is the onboarding of the workloads. You can see all that has been onboarded in your account on the dashboards.""Sentinel has an intuitive, user-friendly way to visualize the data properly. It gives me a solid overview of all the logs. We get a more detailed view that I can't get from the other SIEM tools. It has some IP and URL-specific allow listing""The automation feature is valuable.""The best feature is that onboarding to the SIM solution is quite easy. If you are using cloud-based solutions, it's just a few clicks to migrate it.""Sentinel uses Azure Logic Apps for automation, which is really powerful. This allows us to easily automate responses to incidents.""The most valuable feature is the alert notifications, which are categorized by severity levels: informational, low, medium, and high."

"If you set it up right, it can really manage a very complex environment which require fine tuning where there are a lot of exceptions. That's what it caters to. It can just do those specifics in those exceptional situations, which is good.""The most valuable feature of the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator is agent communication.""The feature that I have found most valuable is its general purpose of protecting our endpoints from infections, malicious files, and all those kinds of things. The fact that there are organized policies and policy inheritance. The general management.""The best part is management in McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator.""The central manager policy means we have almost all client modules in one solution.""Technical support is very helpful.""The most valuable feature of the solution is the central management console, which is used for DLP, endpoint security, drive encryption, and application control.""I really like the auditing component because it really looks at exactly what has happened on the network."

"The automation part of the product is great.""The most valuable features of Splunk SOAR are the easy integration with other solutions, including other Splunk solutions. The most important playbooks we need on the market come already on the Frontend. However, nowadays, Splunk changed its name, it's not Frontend anymore, it's Splunk Store. This is a very strong point.""The best feature is the integration and the custom Python code that we can write. Splunk SOAR provides us with both of these capabilities, allowing us to integrate different security solutions with Splunk SOAR and take remediation actions directly on those security tools.""When you design a playbook, you can integrate multiple log sources and define rules... After that, the platform automatically compiles all these activities and, based on the results, the analyst only has to indicate whether the result is a true or false positive. That reduces the time and effort involved.""I have found all the security automation platform features of Splunk SOAR to be good. The Automation playbook development is highly useful.""The ability to automate Splunk SOAR and customize the playbook use cases is the most valuable feature and is very exciting for me.""Splunk SOAR's quick response to incidents is the most valuable part.""The solution’s dashboard is really good and customizable. It also has a good UI."

Cons
"I would like Sentinel to have more out-of-the-box analytics rules. There are already more than 400 rules, but they could add more industry-specific ones. For example, you could have sets of out-of-the-box rules for banking, financial sector, insurance, automotive, etc., so it's easier for people to use it out of the box. Structuring the rules according to industry might help us.""If Sentinel had a graphical user interface, it would be easier to use. I would also like it to be more customizable.""Sentinel should be improved with more connectors. At the moment, it only covers a few vendors. If I remember correctly, only 100 products are supported natively in Sentinel, although you can connect them with syslog. But Microsoft should increase the number of native connectors to get logs into Sentinel.""Its documentation is not so simple. It is easy for somebody who is Microsoft certified or more closely attached to Microsoft solutions. It is not easy for those who are working on open-source platforms. There isn't a central point where everything is documented, and there is no specific training or certification.""They can work on the EDR side of things... Every time we need to onboard these kinds of machines into the EDR, we need to do it with the help of Intune, to sync up the devices, and do the configuration. I'm looking for something on the EDR side that will reduce this kind of work.""One key area that can be improved is by building a strong integration with our XDR platform.""While I appreciate the UI itself and the vast amount of information available on the platform, I'm finding the overall user experience to be frustrating due to frequent disconnections and the requirement to repeatedly re-authenticate.""They should just add more and more out-of-the-box connectors. It is quite a new product, and it has a lot of connectors, and even more would be good."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"The way that ePolicy launches the updates is very slow. It would be great if that was faster.""The issues with the integration capabilities of the product, specifically the ones that are deployed on an on-premises model, need to be improved.""As for improvements, I think that putting everything on a cloud and one console would be a great idea and would be useful for customers.""There are some issues relating to the automation of reports. That's why I wanted the DLP reports. There are some problems in this area. Sometimes it does not work even though all the configuration words are right. There are also some problems with automatic updates.""There are some issues we are having with updating our Windows server. So we need to contact support or access our support portal.""The solution sometimes has some false positives on IP addresses, from the web control aspect of the product. This needs to be improved.""One thing that I don't like is that McAfee products change very often and upgrade very often.""The solution could improve the EDR component in many areas, such as the zero-day and persistent threats. The implementation is also complex for this feature."

More McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator Cons →

"The Splunk SOAR platform was not designed specifically for case management which is why this area needs improvement.""And most of the challenges that I have faced with the solution can be found in the documentation itself.""We want to see improvements made to the APIs such that we can connect to many different systems and data sources.""It would be ideal if we could automate processes even more.""We've run into a few minor issues. Some of the playbook writing is a bit complicated. We've had a few hiccups with the source control. We'd really like to use GitHub deployment keys for a dedicated account. We haven't been able to do that. I think those are some of the major ones.""Splunk SOAR has room to improve its offering for small-sized customers. The price is not fair for smaller-sized customers.""Creating playbooks using the solution’s playbook editor, for me, is very cumbersome. There have been instances where I have said to myself that I just don't want to use this editor. I might just use a code block and write my own code within it... The functionality in the playbook editor is 80 percent there, but that 20 percent is still lacking. They could make it more efficient.""We've had trouble implementing the solution with Microsoft products. There seems to be an integration gap."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."
  • More Microsoft Sentinel Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Compared to other Antivirus products, the cost of this solution is a bit high."
  • "McAfee tries to package different things into different products, then sell them as different products with different licenses. They just split everything up into multiple things. That's just their sales pitch and how they do it."
  • "This solution is priced in the mid-range."
  • "For large enterprise companies, the price should be alright, but for small businesses, the uptake might be slow because, for these clients, the price doesn't look very attractive."
  • "It is attractively priced. It is a fraction of what we're going to pay for CrowdStrike or SentinelOne, but it only has a fraction of the capabilities as well."
  • "There is a license required to use this solution. If we use the additional components, such as DLP encryption, there is an additional cost. However, it is similar to a separate product altogether. If you want to use that or not, it is optional, but when you use it, it will cost you additional pricing."
  • "McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator is not an expensive solution."
  • "$The price of McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator is expensive, it is approximately $6,000 to $9,000 per license annually."
  • More McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I don't know the exact price, but for my region, it is very expensive."
  • "In my opinion, the price is high, but if you want good products, you have to be willing to pay for them."
  • "It's very overpriced because it is based on the number of users. There is no bulk licensing."
  • "Splunk SOAR is more expensive compared to other options for SOAR."
  • "The licensing cost is reasonable."
  • "When we first purchased our Splunk SOAR license, it was based on an event-count model. It was based on the number of events. I had strong opinions at the time that automation should not be stifled by the amount of automation you can accomplish, so the previous structure was not as beneficial for us. Later that year, we got told or saw at a conference that they announced user-based pricing. We are now in a renewal period, so we migrated to a user-based license model, which is more appropriate for us so that we no longer have to worry about stifling our automation based on the quantity."
  • "Splunk SOAR is an expensive solution for an organization of our size."
  • "The cost is high and the licensing is on an annual basis."
