Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I mostly like automation and recently added custom automation so we can brainstorm and find the best fit for our particular use-case.""The power of the dashboard that the solution gives you means you can do risk, timeline, and cost-benefit analyses for your initiatives. It gives you a complete perspective on the impact of your future decisions and initiatives for the upcoming quarters.""The automation feature saves us hours of time reviewing activities, sending reminders, and sending emails.""The automations are fantastic for rewarding progress.""Having all our stuff in one place, within one tool is extremely helpful.""From the user's perspective, and even for me as an implementation consultant, one of the most valuable features is the integration of different platforms with monday.com. In addition to that, the real-time reporting from the dashboards is also valuable, as is the ability to customize it.""I am able to add in deadlines and filter by work assigned, in progress, and completed.""Being able to assign our individual tasks helps us a ton. I’ve worked with other companies that did not use Monday, and sometimes things would fall through the cracks as there were misunderstandings about who’s the responsibility it was to do something."

"Recent Program Management lifecycle, Program Management aggregation views due to interactive UI (selection of risks, issues, and changes in Program Overview) and “flash look & feel" of this functional chunk, which is different in comparison to other parts of HPE PPM.""Overall, they have a very strong workflow management capability. That's a very strong feature because then you can model any process easily. Whether it is a demand management process, a pipeline management process, or your project delivery methodology, it is much easier because of their workflow management capability.""The portfolio management and the resource management are the key features.""Micro Focus Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) has a very strong workflow engine.""Scenario comparison is the feature most valuable to us and the reason why we decided to choose HPE PPM over other portfolio management products.""Resource management: The resource management module is very complete and covers most of the time all needs of customers.""There are so many different pieces of functionality, and we use almost every single piece from deployment to demand, project, resource, and time management.""The data provided by PPM is trusted and is available almost immediately; without trusted data there is very less scope of any tool to be successful."

Cons
"There are some small usability issues which can be an inconvenience.""I'd love it if there was an instant messenger built into the product so I could talk with other teammates live in-product, as opposed to needing another solution like Slack, Google for chat, or Signal.""Having easier access to training videos on how all features can interact with one another would be helpful.""I archive the data, but I don't know where to find it or how. When I was testing, I thought I saw all the archived files sorted in no order and without knowing where they came from.""The key limitation I face is that I don't find the tool to be fully intuitive as more time is required for me to learn how to use it optimally.""I often find it difficult to keep track of all the projects I am involved in.""It would be nice to have more customization around the documents, such as different title headings, fonts, etc.""The only thing that I would change, and I'm not sure if this is part of the settings that need to be fixed by the user itself, not by the admin, is that sometimes it would be convenient to make your own categories, and it makes it difficult to constantly go and talk to my boss to get them."

More monday.com Cons →

"Micro Focus PPM should be less dependent on coding. It could also benefit from some updates to the software architecture. These have been on the roadmap for years now, but they haven't been released.""Currently, HPE PPM does not allow “Project” approval, but only simple “Demand Request” approval (mobility).""We had a couple of issues with stability or performance degradation about a year ago, around the time of the initial rollout. Since then, we've only had two unexpected outages that were quickly resolved.""User interface continues to be poor. The product does not have a similar view in the different modules, e.g., staffing vs financial management, it looks like you are working with a different product and it is not easy to use or intuitive.""We constantly put in requests for some of the things we need. One of those is being able to export just our standard request type to PDF.""The user interface is very, very old and is missing some functions, such as, for example, re-do, follow, and share functions. The UI is not good.""I was not involved in the initial setup. I know that the project involved a lot of consulting that took a long time.""There are some limitations when it comes to attaching receipts. For example, if we are going to buy some non-labor-related assets such as hardware, we are not able to attach the receipts in the Financial Management module in version 9.41."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I wasn't involved with the licensing, but I believe it's negotiable."
  • "The solution is quite inexpensive. For example, we pay $8,500 for 75 users. It's somewhere around $100 a user, approximately."
  • "The project manager would be responsible for any licensing fees. As an end-user, we just follow suit."
  • "Fees are paid monthly per user."
  • "The price is reasonable for the number of users we have."
  • "I am using its free version."
  • "We tell others it's about $2200 for a ten-person plan and it can be adjusted; it's easy to scale."
  • "monday.com's pricing is fair compared to its competitors, although it is a bit more expensive than most of them. It's more expensive than Jira, Zoho, ClickUp, and Trello. But it is fairly priced when you compare the kinds of features and the capabilities that you get and the ROI."
  • More monday.com Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Support and license management are two hurdles for us. Every time we purchase new licenses, it has taken us half a year to implement those."
  • "It is SaaS without a base fee."
  • "HPE PPM SaaS model is comprehensive, however, the base fee component has customer resistance to its recurring setup,"
  • "Now, we also received an increase in the support license prices, without any advanced notice. At this point, switching to unify all our licensing under HPE and customer support has been poor."
  • "We have an annual license, and it is fairly priced in comparison to that of other solutions."
  • "A large organization will find Micro Focus PPM affordable, but it may be a bit costly for a small or medium-sized company. The license is based on the number of users."

    Reviews from Real Users

monday.com stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its task status feature and its ability to integrate with external apps. PeerSpot users take note of the advantages of these features in their reviews:

Ben D., Front End Developer at a marketing services firm, writes of the product, “Their flagship feature, what used to be called the pulse, is great. Pulse offers great management. Being able to see everything at a glance and check task status, is wonderful. They use subtasks and the simple aspects of task management have been really helpful.”

Another PeerSpot reviewer, the Head of Projects at Smart Media SA, notes, “The boards offer an amazing and clear view of my tasks, campaigns, and progress. Automations especially with Slack and Outlook help with keeping my team up-to-date always. Graphs and charts are valuable for reporting purposes and to track progress made. Workforms/surveys are valuable and a very cool added feature.”

OpenText Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) combines workflows and data to align investments with strategy. Top-down and bottom-up analytics power this strategic portfolio and project management tool.
