We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"If you work with Microsoft, it's very easy to work with this.""Microsoft Project integrates well with the Microsoft Office family of applications. It has plugins that interact with it and you can use it with Microsoft Teams. We can use plugins to communicate with JIRA, Projectplace, and Planview. It's not widely used in the company, of course, but it's something that can interact with the official tools that we have.""The built-in dashboards are powerful because they show both project and overall progress.""It can auto-connect based on the dates, which makes it easy. It auto-assigns people, and when you're starting to type in, it auto-fills and populates for you, which is great. It provides little time savers when you're typing everything out.""The user interface is simple and it helps me in planning what needs to be accomplished.""The project tracking, resource utilization and the cost are the most beneficial aspects of this solution.""Microsoft Project's integrated timeline is tied to the project plan almost seamlessly, and you add whatever action item or milestone you choose. All you have to do is set up a column and click on the timeline. It will automatically put it in there and allow you to choose the type, whether it's a bar or if it's a milestone, just pointing out that single milestone""It's most useful feature is that it interfaces with Project Server so we can, from my perspective, from a portfolio perspective, we can see across the organization."

"SAP is gradually introducing more flexibility and customization options to the system, allowing users to adapt it to their specific needs.""The integration portion with SAP models is valuable."

Cons
"They should assist with tedious tasks.""Could be more user-friendly, and forecasting could be better.""I would like to have more access to templates and tools that could be used to teach project management best practices.""It should be easier to break things. Breaking up the visualization from the task is sometimes a little bit tricky to do. You can do it, but it takes a minute. It's not an easy function to do. The way you have to format it and stuff like that takes a minute.""Microsoft's solution isn't really a collaboration tool, however. If you need a collaboration tool, you can use Slack, which can be integrated with your JIRA.""The Gantt set needs to be improved. The grid lines needs to be more interactive.""Its user interface could be a little bit more intuitive. Not everybody has the luxury of going to training and understanding which button does what and the functionality. The user interface should be improved to make it a little bit more intuitive. It is not user-friendly. I've dealt with it for a number of years, so it is not hard for me to figure it out, but you would need a quick reference guide or something to say, "Here are the basics. This is how you do X."""I would like to see more integrations with another software tool."

More Microsoft Project Cons →

"It would be valuable if SAP integrated seamlessly with some products like Jira and Bitbucket.""The system is old, so there are several issues that arise when we fetch data from integrated systems. Sometimes the data gets stuck, and there are instances where we need to access multiple pieces of information simultaneously."
