We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution was relatively easy to deploy.""The price is low and quite competitive with others.""Fortinet FortiEDR's firewalling, rule creation, monitoring, and inspection profiles are great.""Fortinet has helped free up around 20 percent of our staff's time to help us out.""Additionally, when it comes to EDR, there are more tools available to assist with client work.""The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other.""Fortinet is very user-friendly for customers.""Forensics is a valuable feature of Fortinet FortiEDR."

"We have liked the fact that it comes with Microsoft Windows 10 and it is constantly updated with all new virus definitions. It is also updated with new security features on a regular basis.""User-friendly, offering safety and security.""I like the simplicity of the portal and the integration with Microsoft Intune. Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is easy to use and implement.""We can react to threats faster and stop them from spreading from one machine to another. It protects from suspicious email attachment downloads. It will lock down the SOC and the workstations.""Defender is stable, I haven't had any problems with viruses when using it, and it's easy to update.""I like Defender's reporting and logging features. The email alerts are also helpful. It's hard sometimes to sift through the email, especially if you're an IT firm managing hundreds if not thousands of endpoints, but we find email reporting useful. For example, last Tuesday, we learned of new vulnerabilities that were discovered as a result of the previous patches. The endpoints without those patches triggered alerts in Defender.""It's stable.""Offers good protection."

"We do get notifications, which are helpful.""What I like the most is the customer pricing because it's a great value.""The tool will query the information from the cloud to identify suspicious or malicious files that can be a threat. It will provide you with real-time updates on the latest and ongoing attacks and malware information.""The sandboxing is more proactive and more reliable than any of the other endpoint protection solutions.""Trend Micro is easy to use and it has good security features.""The antivirus signature is valuable.""The most valuable feature of the solution is its simplicity.""The solution gives users peace of mind that, form an endpoint perspective, they are protected once it is installed."

Cons
"The security should be strong for the cloud. Some applications are on-prem and some are on the cloud. Fortinet should also have strong security for the cloud. There should be more security for the cloud.""FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things.""I haven't seen the use of AI in the solution.""We've had a lot of false positives; things incorrectly flagged that require manual configuration to allow. Even worse, after we allow a legitimate program, it sometimes gets flagged again after an update. This has caused a lot of extra work for my team.""The SIEM could be improved.""They can include the automation for the realtime updates. We have a network infrastructure with remote sites. Whenever they send updates, they are not automated. We have to go into the console and push those updates. I wish it was more automated. The update file is currently around 31 MB. It could be smaller.""Making the portal mobile friendly would be helpful when I am out of office.""FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting."

"Cortex... has good investigation capabilities, out-of-the-box, in case there is an event that you'd like to investigate. It's quite convenient. Microsoft has those capabilities as well, but you need a bit more training on the product to get the basic information that you can get out-of-the-box with Cortex.""I would like MDE to have the ability to isolate a certain amount of time on the timeline.""There is room to improve the security of the solution.""Microsoft Defender for Endpoint should include better automation that will make it faster to detect the latest threats happening across the world.""The time it takes to implement policies has room for improvement.""We'd like the stability to be better.""I would just like them to have more consistency, and that's a comment that's across the board with Microsoft. They change things a lot.""Microsoft Defender for Endpoint could provide us with a more holistic approach, such as collaboration. They can provide us with an environment from where we can manage all the endpoints from one central location, such as overall management."

More Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Cons →

"Trend Micro Smart Protection needs to improve its compliance features to cover more domains, such as BCIDSS rules. Enhancements in this area would enable quicker and more comprehensive compliance reporting.""This product would be improved if it had more monitoring capabilities so that it could stop threats before they break into the network and damage it.""It is onsite. It does have its challenges in terms of scalability.""The solution’s technical support is not very good and could be improved.""I'm not sure about the cloud migration part, in terms of whether it is seamless or not.""There is room for improvement to make it better for customers.""The only notable concern is the level of support in the particular region of Sri Lanka. Following events in the past two years, the quality of technical support has regrettably declined.""The solution could be more stable and secure."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.
