Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Dashboards serve as a visual command center, offering a comprehensive overview of project progress, deadlines, and key performance indicators. This visual representation enhances decision-making and facilitates a quick understanding of the project landscape.""The ability to assign members to tasks and then have them update the status on them and even ask related questions under the task has been very helpful.""I love how I can customize so many items on the boards to fit my exact needs.""Subitems really help me stay organized when a project has more than one piece.""With Monday, everything is just one click away.""The features that I have found most valuable include the dashboards, forms, and item and task tracking.""Monday.com is a very organized and easy-to-use tool.""The best feature is the form for requests for new projects."

"The ability to update in real-time before meetings is great.""Smartsheet does a really good job of creating Gantt charts. Export to Excel feature was also very useful.""Smartsheet is a really good tool for collaboration.""For doing project plans what was really valuable is the ability to do a predecessor.""It's very user friendly.""The fact that you can have different access groups is definitely a pro for Smartsheet. It also has the ability to integrate with a lot of tools.""The solution is scalable.""We like Smartsheet's workflows, automation, and low-code capabilities. I don't know of any other project management tool with low-code functionality designed for project managers."

Cons
"We would love it if the system could communicate with our accounting system, QuickBooks.""I wish there were more calculations available across boards and pulses.""It would be quite cool if it could connect to my Outlook calendar and put the project deadlines in there.""The mobile app is not as user-friendly and as adaptable as I'd like it to be.""The new Apple Mac Book Pro lineup was launched more than two years ago and still, this platform is not compatible with the Mac App.""The docs could be improved.""In my main table, I changed sometimes the timeline values mistakenly. That should be prevented via a smart warning or some sort of coloring.""Currently, we run our accounting on Quickbooks Online and we are forced to use their reporting tools to bring out the data we want to see. I would much rather have Quickbooks integration that allows us to more seamlessly pull transactions into Monday in real-time and allow us to manipulate that data on the Monday interface."

More monday.com Cons →

"I think that the mobile interface needs to be improved. If you cannot access it through your laptop, I'd prefer to have that option on the mobile, but I don't think that it's user-friendly and easy to navigate.""The downside of Smartsheet is that there are some security concerns. We were able to restrict people from sharing sheets with anyone who was not in our domain, but it could be easier. We also found it hard to restrict certain user groups from adding attachments to sheets.""A room for improvement I found in Smartsheet is the view, as it's currently row-wise. I should have the opportunity to view a full scale, top down list instead of just a column driven list. I shouldn't have to go just left or right. I should be able to view it top down.""Smartsheet should continue to expand the spreadsheet-type functionality because it's limited currently. Most business users are familiar with Excel and Office, so Smartsheet should adopt a similar way of navigating the program.""The dashboard is not user-friendly, it needs improvement.""Smartsheet needs to improve the user interface.""It would be beneficial to enhance user-friendliness and make it less complex while maintaining its overall excellence as a product.""I'd like to see them add more features to their automation."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I wasn't involved with the licensing, but I believe it's negotiable."
  • "The solution is quite inexpensive. For example, we pay $8,500 for 75 users. It's somewhere around $100 a user, approximately."
  • "The project manager would be responsible for any licensing fees. As an end-user, we just follow suit."
  • "Fees are paid monthly per user."
  • "The price is reasonable for the number of users we have."
  • "I am using its free version."
  • "We tell others it's about $2200 for a ten-person plan and it can be adjusted; it's easy to scale."
  • "monday.com's pricing is fair compared to its competitors, although it is a bit more expensive than most of them. It's more expensive than Jira, Zoho, ClickUp, and Trello. But it is fairly priced when you compare the kinds of features and the capabilities that you get and the ROI."
  • More monday.com Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "This licensing is straightforward and they charge per user."
  • "Its licensing is on a yearly basis. I was responsible for negotiating the price with the Smartsheet team, but I don't remember what the price was. Its standard license probably was around 5,000 to 6,000 a year. The enterprise version is significantly more expensive."
  • "Smartsheet only requires licenses for project managers. When we were using Asana, we had to purchase a license for everyone who wanted to access their tasks and use the system. That gets costly fast. It was one of the main reasons we left Asana. As Asana and these other tools scale, they become way more expensive."
  • "There would be more extensive usage if the solution were cheaper. It's really expensive right now, and that's why we provide a few licenses for admins. The rest of them are just users without admin privileges."
  • "I would assume there is a licensing fee. I don't think that it is free."
  • "It is less expensive than Microsoft Project for enterprise or Oracle Primavera by an order of magnitude. If you buy a Microsoft Project license, it's probably $300 or so by itself, whereas Smartsheet is probably less than $50 per head."
  • "For a normal license, like the one I had: I had my own Smartsheet because I wanted to play with it and I didn't want to mess with what I was doing in Verizon, so I paid $200 monthly, and it gave me all the same functionalities, so I could do whatever I wanted for $200. The problem is if you have anyone else working on it or deploying on it, it's $200 a month for every single person who's deployed on it, that's working on it as an owner or an administrator, so owners and administrators are the only ones who can change, edit, and add data to worksheets and columns. Depending on the size of your organization, Smartsheet can be costly. As for implementing its Control Center, Smartsheet forces you to have three people come in: it's a minimum of three people from Smartsheet for three months who will provide you the solutions for the Control Center side, and that's $150 an hour, so it can become very expensive. For my company, not having the Control Center would save on the setup fees and then the $20,000 a year, because the Control Center of Smartsheet is a yearly subscription of $20,000."
  • "Smartsheet has many licensing models. You need to add the package that best suits your requirements. The license is paid per user and it is monthly. The cost was approximately $7 per PC, $15 for professional, and $33 for the enterprise plan."

    Reviews from Real Users

monday.com stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its task status feature and its ability to integrate with external apps. PeerSpot users take note of the advantages of these features in their reviews:

Ben D., Front End Developer at a marketing services firm, writes of the product, “Their flagship feature, what used to be called the pulse, is great. Pulse offers great management. Being able to see everything at a glance and check task status, is wonderful. They use subtasks and the simple aspects of task management have been really helpful.”

Another PeerSpot reviewer, the Head of Projects at Smart Media SA, notes, “The boards offer an amazing and clear view of my tasks, campaigns, and progress. Automations especially with Slack and Outlook help with keeping my team up-to-date always. Graphs and charts are valuable for reporting purposes and to track progress made. Workforms/surveys are valuable and a very cool added feature.”
