Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"An excellent solution that is easy and intuitive to implement.""It's a monitoring agent. It's designed to do one thing. Its most valuable feature is its monitoring.""Nagios XI is a simple monitoring tool with performance management.""The solution has a lot of plugins and scripts integrated with it.""Nagios allows us to configure any device so that we can send pager alerts when people don't have access to emails. It also allows us to schedule downtime and maintenance.""Nagios XI is stable.""You want to monitor a specific metric that nobody else has? You can do it even with the most basic of scripting skills, and you can always share it with the vast community of Nagios Exchange.""This is a very good solution and it is simple to use, for any company."

"It allows us to digest the information, the data, the different data streams, so we can make decisions based upon information that we receive, and it is pretty robust.""The solution is very fast and succinct.""The client site login is pretty extensible and probably cost-effective.""This is a straightforward solution, easy to configure.""The logs on the solution are excellent.""It is very easy to use and integrate. There are connectors for every technology.""It provides a lot of analytics with the underlying AI engine, and it is a lot easier than other solutions. There are some products that do automated AI-based detection and drawing up charts, but for network monitoring and all of the monitoring aspects, it is quite a nice tool. It is very convenient for business users because they get more or less a lot of data readily available. If you're familiar with the Splunk query language, you can pretty much do whatever you want.""The most valuable features in Splunk are the search function and the ability to run selected session reports. The session reports are important because I can use them to see what is going on in our environment weekly. Additionally, we can use the graph to see how often that particular event is happening."

Cons
"The Configuration Wizard needs improvement, because not all vendors are present.""I would like to be able to extend it to all of our data centers, whether they are in the cloud or not. It would be helpful if I could connect everywhere.""It can be quite difficult to know which drivers and agents to use when setting up.""The interface could be more user-friendly.""The installation and monitoring need improvement.""The product could be optimized to improve the administrative user experience via the Nagios Core Configuration (NCC) GUI module.""Technical support is an area that needs improvement. It is not available 24/7.""The product does not have SAP monitoring."

More Nagios XI Cons →

"I would like to get visibility into the data pipelines on heavy forwarders and indexers to see exactly their source and the cause of saturation when it occurs. This would help us learn even more about our high use applications.""It would be nice if Splunk reduced the cost of training. Their training sessions are way too costly.""Its interface could be improved.""My company could benefit from doing more Splunk training with Splunk consultants teaching us how to use it.""I would like to see future development in terms of ML (Machine Learning).""Splunk does not provide any default threat intelligence like Microsoft Sentinel, but you can integrate any third-party threat intelligence with Splunk. By default, no threat intelligence suite is there, whereas, with IBM QRadar or Microsoft Sentinel, the default feature of threat intelligence is there. It is free. If Splunk can provide a default threat intelligence suite, it would be better.""More control with Splunk Cloud as it seems a bit limited. I used to manage an on-premise instance of Splunk Enterprise and really liked having more control over it.""I feel the solution to be too slow."

    Anonymous User
I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
