We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The Nasuni management dashboard is helpful because, on the administration side, I'm able to view all of the different filers that we have in the UK, rather than check each one of them individually.""Nasuni offers us a single platform with a 360-degree view of our file data, which is definitely important to us. It simplifies IT operations tremendously. Because it is taking continuous snapshots, it eliminates a lot of work that was done previously when trying to manage backing up and restoring data files.""Another helpful feature, in addition to restoring a file that was deleted within 24 to 48 hours, is that we have the ability to restore a file or a folder that was deleted, going all the way back to the inception of that file or folder. That means we actually have unlimited backups to the inception point of data with Nasuni.""The most valuable feature is disaster recovery. We can fully recover a site in two hours.""Its dependability and auditing capabilities are very important to us to be able to maintain a chain of custody of the information.""I can see who is logging in on files from all over the globe. For example, if a file is locked, maybe a user in Shanghai has locked files or something, I can see that from the Management Console, then unlock the file.""The global file locking feature is valuable. The ability to quickly deploy new sites is also valuable.""Nasuni gives us a single platform with a 360-degree view of our file data, which is very important to us. We have everything that we need to look at in a single pane of glass."

"The integration with some storage systems like HP or Nutanix and great support are the most valuable features. You get productivity support. You get a response within one hour, even in the evening or night. The functionality of the whole software is good.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the recuperation of the weaker machines.""Provides lots of reporting and visualization of how much data has been transferred.""For virtualization it's perfect.""The solution is quite stable.""I have been in contact with technical support and they are very good.""The most valuable feature is that I can back up the whole machine and then restore it relatively fast.""The most valuable feature is the ability to restore the VMs into a test environment."

Cons
"Room for improvement would be the speed of replication of new files. I would also like to see cloud mirroring.""I would like to see them improve their tools in regards to accessing data using smartphones, tablets, and iPads. I think the Nasuni app could be improved to make access to the data cleaner and more efficient.""When we first set up our bandwidth limiting, we had a few problems when it came to managing it. This is something that could be made easier; however, we were able to make the changes that we needed to for our environment.""The speed at which new files are created is something that could be improved. For example, if you create a new file in another country, I won't see it for between 10 and 15 minutes.""The speed at which new files are created is something that could be improved. For example, if you create a new file in another country, I won't see it for between 10 and 15 minutes.""The user-friendliness of its access needs improvement. When I log into the console, I see all the files that we handle globally. There are hundreds of Nasuni files that I can see on the console, but no way that I can filter them down. While this is a small thing, I need to scroll down and select the ones that I want. "Control F" doesn't work nor is there a dropdown menu that I can click on and select the ones that I want.""Some of their cross-platform features are really good, but it could always use more.""One thing to consider is that Nasuni will have the same limitations that a traditional file storage solution will have, although that is because they are taking the place of a traditional architectural model. For example, Office 365 supports collaboration on documents such as Excel files and Word documents, but because Nasuni is a traditional file server, in that sense, it can't make use of that functionality."

"The Veeam backup application interface is application-based and not web-based.""It is always nice to get products cheaper.""While the Veeam Backup Replication tool can mostly back up all the data in the environment, the AIX from IBM backup capabilities nowadays could stand improvement as they are not featured on a single pane of glass.""Its price is higher than other solutions and can be improved. They can also change the version of the software more often.""Even though the speed has improved over the years, I think that there are some instances where it still takes a while.""It's a great product, but only if you have everything virtualized.""The ability to do more backups should be addressed.""I would like to see better features for exporting to cloud-based repositories."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The cost of licensing is negotiated and billed annually per terabyte.""There are annual costs that we pay for maintaining all of the snapshot history in the cloud. That is the primary cost that we pay. We occasionally buy newer Nasuni appliances or deploy them to new offices when the need occurs. That capital equipment expenses is less than the cost of buying new file storage systems. For the most part, you are trading a CapEx cost of storage equipment for an OpEx cost for management of all the snapshot data in the cloud.""It has a license fee as well as hardware costs, which we would incur if we want to use Nasuni Cloud Storage Gateway for upgrades.""It is around $850 per terabyte per year. Any additional costs that you would incur are for the local caching devices that you'll need to access Nasuni. You kind of provide your own virtual machines or compute to access the data. You also pay for the object storage. So, there are three parts to it. There is the Nasuni license per terabyte. You would also pay for the actual object storage in the cloud, and then you would pay for virtual machines to access the storage.""I would not say it is economically priced, but it is affordable. If you can afford to pay for it, it is worth the money, but it is definitely not overpriced. It is priced about where it needs to be in the market. We were satisfied with the way they did their licensing and how they handled it. I believe they actually license by data size. It is based on how much data is being held on the machine and replicated, and that's completely understandable. So, for us, their pricing was as expected and affordable.""The cost is based on the capacity, which is approximately $100 USD per terabyte.""The pricing is on par with everybody else, and fair.""Our agreement is set up such that we pay annually per terabyte, and we buy a chunk of it at a time. Then if we run out of space, we go back to them and buy another chunk."

"The license is a bit expensive.""It is always nice to get products cheaper. Technically, it saves you a lot of money. If you wanted to buy the same functionality out of vSphere, you would spend thousands to essentially get the same functionality.""There is a license required for this solution and the price is a bit expensive but it depends on the environment that you have on how much it will cost.""This solution requires a license and the organizations I was involved in were using an enterprise license.""I don't know what the costs are for sure, but I think that it's on a yearly basis.""Overall, I'm not happy with the pricing. The price could be improved. Every year, most vendors try to increase the price. It says it's being upgraded, but there's no improvement. The product stays the same, but the licensing costs are increasing.""We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on Veeam each year, although it is not expensive for what we get.""Its pricing is really good."
