We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
In the DDoS it's difficult to validate what is a genuine request from an end user. We've started being able to do that with the logistics that they have set up. With the protection that they have provided, they are able to identify what is valid and what is not valid. We see that a person who is getting DDoS Neustar service is able to block that particular user. However, while they are doing that it doesn't affect other customers on the server.

All of our traffic has to pass through the appliance, so we can very quickly mitigate the attack. This is a very valuable feature. On top of that, it's not only volumetric attack protection that the solution offers, but also layer 7 attack protection as well. The DDoS protection that the solution provides is its most valuable feature.A flexible affordable solution for defense against DDos attacks. With the secure signature feature, the Radware DefensePro is a big assistance. It is a big help to our customers to improve their productivity and performance. The prompt response from the Radware team is definitely increasing in the new era.A valuable feature is the speed of signature updates.SSL-based mitigation from DDoS attacks is good from their side. They are capable of preventing SSL-based attacks with certifications and everything loaded onto them.It has not gone down for a quite long time. It's working fine.

Cons
I would like to see a dashboard that shows you the data that is transferred from which end. It's where people start looking at abuse management. People keep questioning when the mitigation is on what service it is and how many GBs are passing through. An end user dashboard that will help you identify all of these questions and that can be visible in your entire organization is something that would make sense.

The solution needs a bit more functionality. It would be good if DefensePro could have anti-bot functionalities in order to stop bots like web scrapers from getting onto our customers’ network.I had some trouble in the registration account prior to deployment, but it was fixed. They were not very fast or responsive, however. It took about one week to resolve the issue. It could incorporate more intelligence for reacting with web site visitors.Radware DefensePro requires a continuous learning process. Using this technology, we can improve our network. Based on the different attack mechanisms, we use Radware DefensePro to provide security for our clients' networks very effectively. If they would go to a cloud-based approach, that would give much more flexibility in terms of working with them. They should add artificial intelligence to the platform. It is currently missing the machine learning piece.I would like to see better implementation of a zero-day attack implementation strategy with self-mitigation.

Pricing and Cost Advice

It is sort of middle-of-the-road for this type of solution. The product's pricing is a good value. The cost for maintenance is cheaper because the majority of the deployments using the solution are in areas where cost of maintenance is also lower.Licensing of Radware is quite simple and straightforward, while Arbor DDos is a bit complicated.

Overview

Distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks are growing in size, complexity, and malice. Neustar offers flexible solutions so you can stay connected, reduce the threat of theft, and protect your bottom line:

  • Cloud-Based DDoS Protection: Neustar SiteProtect cloud is the optimal choice for attacks too big for on-premises hardware to manage. Rely on our massive global network and scrubbing capacity to defend your Internet presence.
  • Hybrid DDoS Protection: Get the best of both worlds: on-premises hardware to stop smaller attacks instantly, plus the Neustar SiteProtect cloud when attack volume and complexity explode. We offer the largest and most effective hybrid platform solution.
  • On-Premises DDoS Protection: On-premises Arbor Networks hardware, fully managed by the NSOC, monitors your appliance and mitigates attacks 24/7.
  • Contingency/Failover Service: Gain backup or parallel processing capacity to stop large attacks faster. For SaaS providers, large financial organizations, and carriers especially, it’s a cost-effective way to uphold service quality.

DefensePro is a real-time, perimeter attack mitigation device that secures organizations against emerging network and applications threats.

Part of Radware’s attack mitigation solution, DefensePro protects the infrastructure against network and application downtime (or slow time), application vulnerability exploitation, malware spread, network anomalies, information theft and other types of attacks.
